Football Insider and transfer ITK Fabrizio Romano has sensationally revealed that West Ham sought assurances from one of their top transfer targets before making an official bid.
Speaking in his daily briefing, Romano suggested that West Ham were never going to bid for Nice central defender Jean-Clair Todibo without first ascertaining whether the player was open to moving to East London.
It now seems that Todibo indicated that he would very much like to move to London Stadium. Having received the green light from the player, West Ham then went on to make their bid.
The Hammers’ initial offer of around £25.4 million for Todibo was rejected, prompting the Hammers to bid £40 million for Kilman, which was accepted.
Many had speculated that the purchase of Kilman would mean the end of transfer interest in the twice-capped French central defender; however, Sky Sports is reporting that the Hammers still remain serious about the transfer.
Demon, you have it right. Imagine what Aguerd made of that system when he arrived. No wonder he looked bewildered sometimes. He is a very decent footballer who will thrive under our new Coach and in a different system. Just watch!
Wouldn’t the Irish boy O’Brien be a cheaper option?
We definitely need another CB IF Aguerd is leaving. Personally I’d be happy if he stays though. Zouma is just a bench bandit surely. I can’t see how he could possibly pass a medical for a move.
Zouma on the bench all season would mean high wage earner on the books for someone the manager would rather not use. Better to terminate contract, or ask very nominal transfer fee.
But nobody is gonna buy him are they so we are stuck with his wages.
I keep banging on about it but why on earth we are not going after Jacob Greaves for under £20m I don’t know. I heard Ipswich may be going for a double swoop for him and their left winger.
Good comments but , this site is always behind the times ; WH employee, and now Joyful Hammer on Rumours site , giving more up to date stuff
spot on , the Demon
Don’t we need 2 central defenders?
If so, it makes sense to pursue this central defender. After all, we conceded 74 goals last season so we need players who are better defenders than the ones we currently have.
…and we need to play a system that doesn’t rely on us dropping back to our own 18 yard line for 70% of the game, inviting pressure on our goal. If we exerted a press of our own, we wouldn’t be under siege, just waiting to concede in every game!
