Fabrizio Romano has claimed West Ham are in talks for yet another Brazilian winger, but this time it’s not Wesley.
Luis Guilherme is an uncapped 18-year-old winger who plays for Palmeiras and has yet to score a league goal or register an assist. Therefore, it is somewhat baffling to read that the Hammers are willing to bid up to £30 million for an unproven winger when they hesitated at paying less than half that sum for Ibrahim Osman in January.
Writing on his social media page, Romano said: “Understand West Ham are in talks for the transfer of Brazilian talent Luis Guilherme, as negotiations advance for 2006-born winger. Package being discussed around £30m fee + sell-on clause, waiting for next steps.
West Ham are also to decide soon on Fabrício Bruno after personal terms’ new issues.”
It would be an incredible outlay for West Ham to spend so much on an unproven player who would cost fractionally less than Mohammed Kudus.
It makes little sense compared to the huge tally of goals and assists notched up by Portuguese winger Jota Silva, who the Hammers are believed to be interested in.
If this is the incredibly promising wonderkid who is tipped to be a future star of the Brazil national team and has been linked with Chelsea and Bayern Munich then I would guess he would be worth a lot more than 30 million in future. A good punt I’d say and if unlike the hundred plus other signings we’ve been linked with this one is coming via Fabrizio Romano then I would guess it could have some legs to it.
