West Ham United have been dealt a double transfer blow with news that Newcastle United are set to sign not one but TWO of our top summer transfer targets.

The news was broken by Football Insider and ITK Fabrizio Romano on his Twitter (X) account this afternoon.

Romano wrote: “Newcastle keep advancing to sign both Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo as free agents, almost there.”

While West Ham had given up hope of signing Kelly last week when it was revealed his representatives had met with Eddie Howe’s team, the Hammers still held out serious hope of signing former City player Adarabioyo.

West Ham Director of Football Tim Steidten has been mandated with signing two central defenders during this summer’s transfer window. It was hoped that at least one free transfer would allow for greater funds to be spent elsewhere, and the Hammers had spent considerable time talking with Adarabioyo’s agents, only for the deal to fall through.

Really don’t think this is the “blow” that is suggested. Let’s just wait and see what Tim pulls out of the hat

Not true. West Ham were the first club to be offered Tosin they said no. In fact 4 clubs who finished above them and one who finished below all said yes . Amazing they said no then buy a 28 year old who has never played outside Brazil. Good luck with that one

Im sure Lopetegui will have his own targets and not just the players that were being looked at under Moyes. In any case probably not worth being bothered about players missed when we donā€™t even really know if they were top targets or even just targets in the first place.

    WHAT S SUPRISE šŸ™„

Newcastle look a better option than West Ham thatā€™s why. Once they put the right envelopes in the right hands, the owners will be able to buy their trophies, just like Man City.
As for us, it should be remembered that the vast majority of signings happen later in the window. In demand players donā€™t take the first offer that comes along, no matter how early you start courting them. Agents wait and see how the market develops. If we want to compete for the best players we will need to be patient.
It should also be noted that 99% of player transfer rumours on this site or any other are made up for clicks, or planted for someoneā€™s agenda.
    Letā€™s all take a deep breathā€¦ and relax šŸ™‚

The manager knows who he wants. But Newcastle is always doing this. I don’t think Newcastle can go any further than these two
    Because of the spending limit.

As far as I am aware neither player was a priority and we had already pulled-out of discussions with Adarabioyo, so there is nothing here to get excited about. Must confess that I am amazed by the negative comments on this site regarding transfers. Steidten and Lopetegui know what they are doing (unlike David “I only want Kalvin Philips” Moyes).

Shame about Kelly as he is an upgrade on what we have at CB currently. But he knows and trusts Howe so it was always going to be a long shot.thankfully there are other options out there who wonā€™t break the bank.

Always, the same bull**** ! We will be beaten to all the top signings as usual because we are too slow! We shouldā€™ve done due diligence on several targets months ago and sounded them out if they were interested or not.We need to get our act together and sign some top young talents and a few experienced top players also.

We probably never went higher than eight quid.

  • Jeeps says:

Strange, end of April it was reported Adarabioyo was up for a transfer to whu.
Looking for a club where he was certain of playing time.
After hearing whu had cooled interest was very surprised.
