Ronaldo hat-trick keeps Hammers in sixth place

West Ham will leave Spurs to play catch up on us again if they manage a victory over Villa at the London Stadium today.

A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick gave Manchester United a 3-2 victory at IOld Trafford this evening and ensured the Hammers remained in sixth place.

The Spurs goals came from a Keane penalty and Maguire own goal – which made og’s the club’s third highest scorer.

It meant that the Old Trafford club went further ahead of the Irons – five points clear in fourth place with 50 points to our 45 from 28 in sixth, leavingĀ  Spurs in seventh with 45 points and a game in hand on us.

We need to win tomorrow (Sun) to ensure that Spurs don’t leap frog us on Wednesday night when they visit Brighton who have slipped into 13th place following defeat by Liverpool earlier today.

And that would mean an Irons win at Spurs next weekend would keep us ahead of them andĀ  eliminate any advantage from games in hand they had held over us.
