Rugby man to rescue Hammers media team

London Irish Rugby Marketing & Communications Director Ian Taylor will be joining the Hammers next month to fill the void left by Ben Campbell who took up a new position as Head of Communications at PGMOL on New Years Day.

Since then the Hammers have been without a Head of communications at precisely the point where there was most needed for damage limitation.

Taylor started as a sports reporter at the Herts & Essex Newspaper Group before working through the ranks of QPR for 12 years leaving the London football club as head of media and communications.  He then spent two years at Head Of Communications.

After a year of freelancing, he joined London Irish rugby outfit in February last year.

Taylor skills on LinkedIn include Stakeholder Crisis Management, something West Ham are in desperate need of as the fallout of Zoumagate continues.

Taylor is expected to take up the permanent role in mid-March and that could not come soon enough in the current crisis.
