Quite whether it is because of the player’s bad injury last year, or simply a scepticism amongst West Ham United fans that another striker is going to land in East London before the end of this window- but there is a high degree of shall we say ‘elevated opinion’ about the stories and rumours relating to a Hammers’ bid before the end of the window for the English-born Roma and former Chelsea striker.
Indeed, Tammy Abraham’s possible transfer to West Ham seems to be dividing opinion like no other at present – actually, that’s not correct: In a manner very similar to Tom Soucek after this weekend, where so many column inches and comments from Claret and Hugh readers are similarly polarised. In the same way that The Czech has those who think he’s awesome, or those who want him sold ‘tomorrow’ – the prospect of English striker Abraham coming to East London creates a similar gulf of opinion.
Much like the ‘old story’ rumours of Armando Broja who I dubbed ‘The Marmite’ striker because it seemed claret and blue fans either loved or hated the prospect of signing him, with nothing in between.
Labelled by FourFourTwo as ‘one of the best strikers in the world’ – at least it was claimed that was his status before his ACL injury – Abraham is reported in MilanNews24 and covered today by TBR Football as being the ‘subject of an impending bid in excess of £17 million’ by The Irons.
Journalist Simone Valdarchi reported somewhat nebulously: “During the transfer market, many Premier League teams were linked to Abraham, but without anything so concrete, to date, West Ham seems to be the most interested club and ready to offer just over €20m.” And regarding his attitude to coming to London: “As for the player’s will, I believe that the possibility of playing for Milan fascinates him, even if the Premier League would be a homecoming for him.”
Which kind of says it all, in my opinion. The player is unlikely to come, so all those in the ‘anti’-Abraham category need not feel unduly concerned: I’m not claiming to be ‘in the know’ ( some of you will laugh at that..) but I have seen x/tweets from those in the club previously dismissing reports about Abraham coming to London Stadium as ‘complete rubbish’.
So, keep you hair on, I’d guess it is very unlikely. But then again, I’d have said the same about Jean Clair Todibo coming to West Ham this summer!

Got to agree with you, enjoyment of C&H is being spoiled. What was an easy read with slick easy use is rapidly becoming hard work.
