Former West Ham United midfielder and Burnley boss Scott Parker has left the Clarets by mutual consent this afternoon. . . but if you believe that, you’ll believe anything.
With the club set for relegation and four games remaining of the current season, Parker’s departure does seem strangely timed.
Burnley Exit Raises Questions
After all, Burnley gained promotion from the EFL Championship last season in emphatic style and, ordinarily, one would assume the former Bournemouth and Fulham boss would be the perfect candidate to guide them straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
But it now seems he will miss the final games of the campaign, which could have an impact on West Ham.
Leeds Could Benefit
Because while Burnley have not done enough to stay up this season, they have at times remained competitive.
And with them still due to play Leeds United, this could be the boost the Yorkshire side need to secure one more win, which would likely guarantee their survival.
That is not ideal news from a Hammers perspective with Daniel Farke’s men still to play Tottenham.
West Ham Rumours Sure To Follow
No doubt rumours will now begin to surface over Parker’s potential for landing the Hammers job should West Ham go down at the end of the season.
However, that feels a little premature at this point.
It is far more likely Burnley themselves decided it was time for a change, rather than Parker leaving on the promise of a non-existent role at the London Stadium next season.
Collateral damage
Apparently Burnley have put Micheal Jackson in interim charge 🤣 they must’ve brought him back to life.
I read that as well, Ryan. Looks like tonight’s game could be a ‘thriller!’
