Some rock fans complained of safety concerns as nearly 80,000 AC/DC ticket holders attempted to leave the Olympic Stadium around 10.30pm last night.
One music fan who is a journalist and a Spurs season ticket holder took to social media to highlight the danger to the Premier League.
John Toner wrote “Safety at the Olympic Stadium dangerous. Closed the majority of exits & were funnelling thousands into a handful of exits.Crush only prevented when stewards opened extra gates. I was told I was ‘drunk’ for wanting to use nearest exit. Crowd became angry and began scaling barriers to escape. Scary and dangerous”
One West Ham messaged David Gold saying “Great venue but badly staffed, couldn’t get up walk ways, stewards apalling”
A Hull City fan complained about the massive queues outside the stadium for the underground station saying “West Ham will love the tube queues at full time on Matchday…” together which this picture below of the queues.
Yeah, what you wouldn’t want is to have to wait at the tube station for 45 mins with police horses pushing people around and police dogs barking in your face…
Oh sorry I forgot we aren’t at upton park any more!
Hopefully after matches we will be allowed to go back to the Westfield not get funnelled towards the stations, the journey time to the tube/main line etc is lengthy it certainly was when I watched the Rugby and i got into the station first time, I would rather potter about the Westfield have a pint or two let the queues die down then head off.
Why’s that guy in such a rush to get back to Hull ? Clearly Hull Tiger fans don’t like queue’s that’s properly why none of them bothered to go to Wembely to see their side promoted to the premier league
A few teething problems should be expected when opening such a large venue, During the olympics things were quite ok and with 20k less fans I expect things will be much better next season.. I’ll be walking to Westfields after each match for a few beers and something to eat & many others will do the same
You always get a handful of moaners.Who cares what a Spud thinks. He is hardly going to praise the place is he.I expect he misheard the steward,he probably never told him he was drunk he probably told him he was a ****
A spud and french o/s run venue ??
Says it all really ! Maerd ,
Maybe 20,000 less people will be a bit better , 25% less !
I was at Coldplay at the etihad stadium last night and experienced the exact same problems. People have a tendency to stay till the bitter end at concerts to catch the encore whilst in my experience some people people leave 10 minutes early in football to miss the rush and get a train. It took me nearly an hour and a half to finally get out of the etihad stadium and back to the car / out of the car park last night People are far too keen to jump on the negative with this stadium.
