Diafra Sakho is to resume first team training in February with a possible return by mid March.
David Gold told his twitter followers in the last few hours confirming: “Spoke to Diafra today he’s working hard on his rehab and is looking forward to resuming training. Great to see him in such high spirits. dg”
The Hammers said on 30th November the 26-year-old would be missing for eight weeks because of a thigh injury, meaning he would not return until mid-February.
David Sullivan speaking on Talksport this morning is more cautious giving an estimate of six to eight weeks for a full return to action.
Slaven Bilic has told reporters today that he expects the player to be fit and ready for selection by mid March.
The striker, who joined the Hammers in 2014 from French club Metz, had only returned from a back injury in the defeat at Spurs on 19th November last year.
West Brom were keen to sign Sakho for £15m last Summer but the deal was called off because of ongoing back problem.
Can anyone name a good right back who is for sale? People keep banging on about it but you can’t buy what ain’t there ffs.
Sakho another month away and then he’s gotta get up to speed-another2/3 weeks. And we don’t need another striker. The only striker we’ve got is Carroll, lets hope he stays fit at least til mid March (not holding my breath). What about the right back that we’ve needed all season-Byran or Nordveit?Great.
It seems we are sticking with Caleri after all, but I just hope he justifies Bilic’s faith in him, because Bilic doesn’t need any more distractions from his credibility.
Of course we could get a surprise before the end of today.
We all welcome Sahko back, but I hope he doen’t mind AC having a decent second half of the season, or the he might throw the pram out this time LOL.
Let’s hope he realises that he can compete with AC for the position to bring the best out of both of them, and of course that AC hasn’t had an injury for all of 3 months.
Getting Sakho back would be like a summer sighning but , free . If you see what I mean .
Are things finally looking up for West Ham after such a traumatic beginning to life in the LS . One would certainly hope so .
Maybe our new found togetherness will shock City into slipping up and maybe we will prove we are better than previous results have shown .
