I’ve been shocked by the negativity towards West Ham this summer and I believe it’s down to the media’s determination to stay onside with Sam Allardyce.
There’s a perception among the professional pundits – all of whomo bviously like Sam’s media friendly approach – that he’s been hard done by and should still be in charge.
As a result Slaven Bilic is working in an atmosphere where he’s been swimming against the tide to some extent as the feeling has spread to a few fans.
That can all be turned around in a couple of weeks if the new boss gets a couple of results but as has been said many times he couldn’t have been handed a harder start than Arsenal away.
We have such a poor record against them and if we come away from the Emirates with anything ย it will be a massive ย result.
However, in the absence of that I want to see a way of playing evolving and the arrival of Dimi Payet tells us that we are likely to be watching a very different and far more attractive style.
If I see the signs of that developing I’m going to be very happy and the events of last week in ย Europe should be forgotten.
That of course was another reason for the negativity but nothing should be judged on that campaign as it was part of a muddled pre-season which was unlike most any club will have put up with.
It’s gone – out of the window so let’s forget it and move on.
The season starts here and everybody needs to give Slaven a chance to sort out the problems – a poor second half of last season, new players, a new way of playing.
The pressure placed on his shoulders by the professional pundits because of their affection for Sam is unfair and wrong.
I’m as certain as I can be that he is going to be fine so lets look for the positives from Day One onwards.

Superb.Oh how i loved to hear our fans singing ‘Are you watching Allardyce’ ๐
up and running !!
Thats the way to do it… ha ha
Spot on Leroy 0-2 well done Hammers
Well done Slav
There is only one total cock pundit & that is Souness.Still banging his old ‘West Ham Way’ crap ๐
Spot on mate, lets get behind the man I cant believe some of the postings on our web sites and we haven’t even started the season off yet.
As a pundit himself for the BBC i am pretty sure Leroy is in a position to call it as he sews it amongst other pundits. There is clearly a Sam love-in,if mot why do none of the pundits ever point out how bad things had got.Never a mention of no away wins in the leahue drom start of dec.No comments about 3 wins in 20+ games.Just Sam will give you stability,You wont get relegated with Sam.To believ there isnt a love-in means you must never watch any footie shows with pundits on it i suggest ๐
I try not to watch any pundits if possible. I don’t need them. On the other hand Leroy is one of us, and an ex=pro, so I don’t mind listening to his opinion. And Thats mine.
Well if you rarely listen to them how can you claim they dont have a Sam love-in mentality. You surely cant say it doesnt exist if you never listen to what they say Dafish, lol ๐
I’m talking generally. Like I said I don’t give such importance to stupid pundits, as you obviously do.
try to stop listening to them and think for yourself.
Just leave it Chicken, let it go,let it go,lol,Sleep must sleep deprived. You will never win an arguement with him,he will keep going till he has beaten you into submission, haha.Only joking Dafishy ๐
ha ha ha Tys you know me more than my missus. lol
Oh relax sleepy,i was only joking with you.It wasnt malicious.Wow,calm down, calm down ๐
I know chick. just my antagonistic way. just ask Tys lol
I’ve never understood this obsession with this ‘ Sam Loving Syndrome ‘
I don’t think it exsists. It’s just the intense hate of Allerdyce by some people, that leads them to fear that he might sneek back in by the back door.
As for the rest, I am with Leroy. Forget the stupid Europa league side- show and lets get on with the real business of the new era.
Don’t really understand why the love-in is going on. Look at last season from xmas & the year before, only survived due to 4 wins on the spin in Feb. How was he hard done by? Most clubs would have sacked him end of 2013/14. It wasn’t a knee jurk decision as his contract was up & both parties wanted out. West Ham should be applauded for taking this chance & a complete change in playing style. COYI…
All the Pundit’s and all the Daily Rags have written Off West Ham’s chances against Arsenal today at The Emirates . The general theme has settled into : Arsenal are far superior and West Ham are no hopers ….. What more motivation do West Ham need to upset the Negativity that surrounds them . What will the arsenal reaction be if they don’t thrash West Ham ?., I wonder . The inclusion of Reece Oxford in the starting line up is a clear indication of Bilics intent on building up from the ground up and should be applauded … Brave stuff .
Can we surprise the lot of them ?? , we all hope so ,, so sit back and expect some surprises this season . Come on you Hammers . Into the OS and into the future …
I dont take any notice of the so called experts. All just Sam sycophants who enjoy a beer with him at the golf charity events. They will soon grow tired of their love-in with him in the media.Best way to shut them up is by doing the business on the pitch.OT(wetpants classic),lol, just watching Downing at Preston.Playing at Preston or playing at the Emirates today. No where i would rather be playing ๐
Hi Leroy, I think every West Ham should be delighted with the appointment of Bilic and the removal of BFS. BFS’s style of football did him no favours. I think some of us were and still are, very disappointed with the manner of our exit from Europe. I for one thought that we should have fielded a slightly stronger team midweek, players like Jarvis, Amal Samuelson, Obiang (game time), and Adrian in goal. With these players we would have qualified to the next round. The fans and perhaps the players were very disappointed with Bilic. But the decision is made and only time starting today will tell if it was the right decision.
Spot on as ever by Leroy. I’m used to the negativity from so called experts who seem to have a love in with our former manager even though on any other subject always say that football should be attacking and entertaining which as we know wasn’t part of BFSs gameplan. What I can’t understand is the negativity voiced by so called fans, there are more of these than were pro-Sam so fail to see why it’s happening.
Slav and the boys need and deserve support and patience from all of us so let’s get behind them. COYI!
