Sam’s future: The priorities explained

SAllardyceSam Allardyce is likely to need more than a top ten finish to  receive a new contract offer at the end of the season.

Chief shareholder David Sullivan- in a recent interview explained the  manager will face precisely the same sort of end of season review as last summer.

And ClaretandHugh has discovered the board don’t necessarily subscribe to the widely held view that a top ten finish will be enough to see the 60 year old handed a new deal.

Outside of a top six finish, Allardyce’s future would remain in the balance but nobody is getting carried away with the latest run of results.
And – just as was the case last season – the fans view will be close to the top of the agenda when the board and manager settle down to decide whether they will go forward together.
A key element will be a decent FA Cup run and a continuation of the attractive football which has become what the board have called “a return to the West Ham Way.”
An insider told ClaretandHugh: “Position alone would not provide a benchmark in contract talks – there are many other factors involved in this decision. A Cup run has always been a priority along of course with an attractive style of football”
