Samuelsen to Blackburn but Fletcher on hold

martin-samuelsen-west-hamMartin Samuelsen has joined Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan but plans are on hold to send out Ashley Fletcher. The 19-year-old Norwegian – who has signed a new four-year contract with the club – will link up with fellow Hammer Stephen Hendrie, who is also on loan at Ewood Park, for the 2016/17 campaign.Samuelsen joined League One side Peterborough United, and went on to make 20 appearances for Posh in league and cup.

He scored once for Peterborough – his side’s third in a 3-2 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

However, with Fletcher having shown so well in games so far since joining the club a possible loan deal to Leeds United is in storage!
A source said: “We will need to see where we are with signings come the deadline day but there’s no doubting that Ashley has been extremely promising.”

  1. One more year on loan then he should be ready and will save us signing Tore after his loan spell,
I hope Fletcher stays and steps up to full time playing,he has great potential,
Maybe in 2 years Manure will be giving us £86 million for one of there freebies,

  2. Leeds sounds an odd choice- new manager every few weeks…

  3. 2 great prospects.
Samulesen will benifit from a year in the Championship.
    Fletcher should stay and play.

  4. It will be good for Sammy to get some Champo football under his belt. Not sure about Fletcher, now we are out of Europe his chances could be limited. Will he better off playing regularly in the champo or getting fleeting cameo appearances for us.I ain’t buying in to all the Fletcher hype yet.Good potential but no more than that at this stage.IMHO.

    • Agreed he needs more experience, but perhaps he can go out in January when our injuries are recovered.

      • Yeah true enough Sleeps.I think it is all up in the air until the window shuts. Is Valencia going,is Zaza/Bony coming.I think any loan will depend on that.Im a fan of sending youngsters out instead of playing in the dev squad.I remember Defoe said it was the making of him with his spell at B’mouth.

  5. We keep signing these young players & promptly send them back out again on loan. When are we going to start blooding them in to the 1st team? Would love to see a few kept around the squad and regularly come off the bench. Samuelsen would have been one of these left up to me. Isn’t being a armchair manager fan good fun… 😉

  6. Play Fletcher tomorrow and see just how good he is against the best ( I think he will suprise all !! ) and remember Fletcher came to us so he could play on the big stage not on loan or in the reserves – give him his chance !!

    • With you on that Ironworker.
      Play him.
We need a confident forward and at the moment he’s the only one.
Keep him until the Jan window. I think he will score and make space for others. If he had played from the start we would of won on Thursday

  7. Its great clubs want our players on loan but I agree with Essex it is sad to see the manager not being brave enough to put them into our team. IMO both Oxford and Fletcher should be playing in the first team this year. The manager is taking the easy option by playing experienced players, it will back fire on him big time. The signings we have made and I sincerely hope we do not sign this Italian for 25 I am very worried that we are going to go from 6th to 12th this season. My fear is Bilic is not brave enough to play the youth who are in some cases better than some of the signings he has made. We are going to see if he was a one season wonder or not very very soon.

  8. Thanks for that Johnham you ray of sunshine.
