Samuelsen’s future – the fans speak out

David Gold has told ClaretandHugh he can see Martin Samuelsen becoming the next Dimi Payet whilst club insiders have explained that ideally they want to see the teenager as part of the Irons first team squad next season.

Currently on loan at Peterborough United, the League One club would love to keep Martin for another season but the Irons are very keen to bring him home.

Here’s what ClaretandHugh’s readers @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/ have to say about the young Norwegian’s future.

martin-samuelsen-west-hamO I’d love to see him and Payet in the same team if it will work.

O This story is saying what I wanted it to say before I opened the link – that we want him back. Thank you.

O Payet, Lanzini and Samuelson. Love it!

Surely if we want him he’s our player unless Slav wants to loan him out for another year. But I think he could easily play for us in Prem if his display for Posh against WBA in recent cup tie is anything to go by.

O August until Christmas in the Championship will benefit him, then back to us for the second half of the season.
I think we need to bring him home. He needs the quality of Payet, Noble and Bilic around him for his development into a better player.

I was surprised he was loaned out as he looked quality during pre-season

He can be better than payet. Still got a long career ahead of him and look where he’s at now.

  1. If we have any European qualifying games we should keep him for them and then send him back to posh till Christmas and then revaluate the situation. He made a mug of some of the baggies but imo they were the reserves of a poor team

  2. It’s time to start developing some of our young players ourselves, Championship and lower league football means they have to climb up to playing in the Premiership, month loan yes, but not like we seem to use the system.

  3. Ideally he would benifit from a year in the Championship, while he beefs himself up. He is very thin and needs some body strength ( both upper and lower ). I would rather that he gets the crap beaten out of him at Peterborough, than in our first team. He’ll come back a man.
On the other hand, last summer I also wished for Samuelsen – Payet – Lanzini in our first team, and to keep him happy perhaps he should be kept here.

  4. That’s exactly it, he’ll benefit from playing competitive games against men rather than development snooze fest football, why any young player goes to big clubs (except us) is beyond me
