Sarri Has It Over ‘The Special One’ – Here’s Why

The possibilities are constantly being mooted by different media sources for a new Hammers’ Coach – in the event that both Everton triumph in the ‘El Sackio 2’ London Stadium game on Saturday and David Sullivan then keeping to his word and dismisses Lopetegui. Just yesterday, new candidates arose having been put forward by various rumour factories, journals and ‘inside sources’. Jose Mourinho has been tipped, along with Edin Terzic, plus [journalist Jacob Steinberg’s trio] of Sebastian Hoeness, Kasper Hjulmand, and Roger Schmidt. Also gaining traction today is former Lazio and Chelsea boss Maurizzio Sarri.

Compared with Lopetegui’s muddled team selection, lack of shape, discipline, leadership and tactical naivety,  pretty much ‘any of the above’ sound tempting,

As a reminder though, there are a couple of pre-requisites for any candidate: David Sullivan famously turned down Ruben Amorim because he ‘didn’t have enough premier league experience’ , so that would seem to rule out ‘several who have no direct Premier League experienced.

Also don’t forget our ‘highly placed source’ at London Stadium confirmed that ‘West Ham don’t pay compensation’ for other clubs managers so that rules out Mourinho, Hoeness etc – anyone working for another club at present.

Narrows the field a bit, doesn’t it? Potter or Sarri then: Unless of course Tim Steidten gets to choose this time, Sullivan having got it so wrong with Lopetegui. Sullivan will still have to approve the compensation payment though, so I do see it as very unlikely West Ham will buy a coach out of another club.

Either way, Frank Lampard need not apply. Anyone seriously suggesting BFF needs to go away and read up on their West Ham.

In any case, I suspect the reality, however much Hammers’ fans may wish it, is that there’ll be a ‘fudge’ and “no change” will be the order of the day.

Lopetegui will limp on for months yet, the West Ham board shying away from pulling the trigger whatever the outcome on Saturday. All this ‘must-win’ is just for posturing. Probably Sullivan will keep Lopetegui onboard providing we finish 17th or higher to save paying the best part of £6 million compensation. Which is a sad thought indeed. I really, really hope I’m wrong and I’m sitting here on Saturday night reporting on Lopetegui’s last game.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. 'Football is Life' oh yes. Let it raise your spirit but never darken your mood. Life's too short not to enjoy the journey with our Claret and Blue heroes n' villains.

This ‘ needs premiership experience ‘ I feel is utter BS. Grant, Allerdyce, Pelligrini Moyes and JLo all had premiership experience and where has it got us. If we are gonna get rid of this guy let’s take a chance on someone up and coming.

I will put this out there…Just by sacking him..If he does..Then the mindset has changed surely?…Why not go whole hog and pay out for whoever he wants?..Terzic for me and settle for mid table this season.
There are very few young managers out there …Premier league experience usually means an older manager who has been sacked..Because the club that they are at wants something different….I also notice some championship managers who get promoted stick to their playing style and get better jobs…Kompany at Burnley and possibly McKenna at Ipswich ?…Food for thought if we stay with Lopeitegui .

Sully has an awful record appointing managers and must be the easiest person to impress at interview stage!

JLo has had 10 games and is already lucky to still be at the club! 🇪🇸🤡 has been an absolute car crash! The worst we’ve had considering the quality of the player’s available.

Tim appointed Alonso at Leverkusen. Let Tim rescue our season with a progressive coach. I genuinely believe Hoeness could get us touching 7th if brought in after this weekend. The league prize money for places can pay the release clause.

If and it’s a bigger if compared to when it goes wrong under 🇪🇸🤡 then Sully has a free hit and can pin it on Tim!

It’s a free hit for Sully!

  • David Moyes says:

We all know Sullivans not going to sack him regardless of the result.
Then it’s full steam ahead to the Championship.
Honestly this club will always be a total shambles as long as Sullivans running things.

History tells us Sully has made many mistakes. I’m just hoping it’s lessons learned time and this may result in him changing the error of his ways.

Football is a business and Sully is a business man. It always makes sense to employ people that are skilled in that chosen area of operation.

We already have Tim who is data driven that can make informed decisions. It’s obvious 🇪🇸🤡 doesn’t fit the business profile.

Getting a progressive manager that works in tandem with Tim will take us back up the league!

I’m pretty sure Kresinsky knows this and will be trying to influence Sully in making the right call.

      🇪🇸🤡 has to go!

Well, I don’t know about you, but I am not enamoured by “big name managers”. None of the ones we have had have done anything for the club – Grant, Pelligrini, Lopetegui – they have all been useless !

    • Matt says:

Totally agree and it’s not just our club!

Ancellotti at Everton, Mourinho at Spurs, Conte at Spurs are 3 that come to mind!

Brighton’s current and former manager show what can be done with young progressive coaches that work in tandem with the recruitment team.

Amorin the same at Sporting and Hoeness at Stuttgart!

Football has evolved and we need to act in the same way.

P45 the 🇪🇸🤡 and let’s start being ambitious.

Please Sully make the right decision before we become the next Wolverhampton Wanderers!

      • Alan says:

Speaking of Wolverhampton Wanderers, how would fans feel about Gary O’Neil if he gets the push?

I don’t blame him for their current predicament. Highly preferable to Lampard and some of the other names doing the rounds in my opinion. And we know Sullivan isn’t going to break the habit of a lifetime and pay to get a manager out of another club.

        • Matt says:

Wolves fans were pleased they got Gary to replace 🇪🇸🤡

I like Gary, but feel we should be aiming higher than Wolves aspiration wise.

          • Alan says:

We absolutely should. But unfortunately we’re limited to the ambitions of our owner. Which will always be what he considers to be the safest cheap option.
