Amidst growing uncertainty surrounding the future of West Ham United’s Brazilian playmaker Lucas Paqueta,  our very own Sean Whetstone  who has close links to David Sullivan, has moved to dispel recent rumours and speculation.

Paqueta has been at the centre of a betting scandal that has seen him charged by the Football Association. The charges, which the player denies, have cast a shadow over his career and prevented a potential move to Manchester City last summer.

Recent reports had suggested that Saudi Arabian clubs could offer Paqueta a lifeline by signing him outside of FIFA’s jurisdiction. However, Sullivan has dismissed these claims as an “urban myth”.

“Saudi Arabian clubs playing the Saudi Pro League are regulated by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation who have been affiliated to FIFA since 1974,” Sullivan stated. “Any player bans ratified by FIFA would be applicable and enforceable in Saudi Arabia.”

Furthermore, Sullivanhas contradicted reports suggesting that the verdict on Paqueta’s case will not be delivered until well into next year. Instead, it is believed that the decision could come as early as January.

The uncertainty surrounding Paqueta’s future has prompted West Ham to explore options for a left-sided attacker to provide cover in case of a lengthy ban.

With millions of pounds riding on the outcome of the case, both West Ham and Paqueta will be anxiously awaiting the verdict.

Why does it take so long 😫.
FA charged him, and should have been done and dusted by now.

  • CareBare says:

The career of a footballer is incredibly short, therefore any investigations which could lead to a ban, should be treated as urgent.
