Reports suggest that West Ham captain Kurt Zouma, is now a transfer target for the Saudi Pro League. Claret & Hugh received information from its top source at West Ham earlier this week, indicating that the club has no plans to extend a new contract offer to the central defender.
Despite Zouma being a key player in David Moyes line-up, there are concerns within the club regarding his long-term fitness. It’s been hinted that Zouma is deliberately rested during midweek games, and occasionally misses training sessions. Given these concerns, it raises doubts about whether he would pass a medical examination if he were to agree to a transfer, be it to Saudi Arabia or elsewhere.
The 28-year-old Zouma agreed to a four-year contract upon his move from Chelsea to West Ham for £30 million in August 2021. As of the January transfer window, he will have approximately 18 months remaining on his contract. However, the club do have a tendency to have options to extend written into most contracts.
It’s believed that clubs in the Saudi Pro League had identified Zouma as a potential target during the summer, but it was communicated that any deal would not be considered until at least January.
