Scamacca strikes as Hammers grab victory

Gianluca Scamacca score his first Premier League goal as the Irons grabbed their second win of the season but their first at the London Stadium.

Scamacca’s was a beautiful strike and when Jarrod Bowen flashed home a second early in the second half our season appears to have lift off.

There were improved performances all over the pitch with Tomas Soucek and Bowen both looking far more like the performers we know they can be.

Scamacca’s strike came after he had produced a pass to Bowen who fought off challenges before the ball was returned to the No to smash home a shot from outside the area which gave the keeper no chance,    .

Earlier he had lifted a far easier chance over the bar when trying to dink the Wolves keeper after a shot from Bowen had rebounded to him.

The Hammers pressure had come off the back of a Wolves opening which had seen Fab save two shots before a close range effort was blasted wide.

Bowen added the second – his first of the season – with a fine drive from inside the box 10 minutes into the second half following a move involving Paqueta and Declan.

Paqueta was looking better and better as the game went on producing the sort of creative passing the team has missed but we were fortunate when substitute Diego Costa saw a header fly wide from a Traore cross.

This was a vastly improved display from the Irons as they lifted themselves from the bottom three and into 15th place.

  1. So glad Moyes kept the faith with Bowen and Souchek. Both terrific today. Onwards and upwards.

  2. 2 Quality goals keeps the manager off the naughty step tonight. There was some quick slick passing but too many times a sloppy pass enabled Wolves to put us under pressure.Moyes is sticking with his tactic but i did see enough to think we could play a more attacking game.3 points was most important tho.
