Season tickets to go digital with ID checks

The 2020/21 season will see an end to plastic  Season Ticket access cards with all supporters receiving an electronic or digital ticket on their mobile device. This will avoid personal contact and visits to the Ticket Office helping to promote social distancing.

The club says supporters will receive further information in due course on how mobile ticketing will work so that all fans attending London Stadium feel they have all the details they need so that they can get into the stadium safely and smoothly.

The club says they will provide alternatives for supporters who do not have access to a suitable mobile device.

Supporters will also be required to carry photographic identification with them to the London Stadium which will be checked at the time of entry to ensure there is no transfer of any tickets. The identity check is designed to follow strict government guidelines which support track and trace.

  1. Not sure why they don’t provide a club official ID card, (make it last 10 years like a passport) with a photo and address if required on it, have been saying the same for years. Same short term fix approach, what is the cheapest way is usually the chosen path instead of what is the best way for most.

  2. So my 13 year old daughter has to carry a phone or digital device to get in the ground ?
What if i can’t go but she can go with my wife ( as as happened) , this will stop this as well.
It takes 20 minutes to be searched , now we are going to ask for ID , hmm another long pointless delay.
Anyone who has been to the 02 in recent years knows the chaos that the digital ticketing system caused. Masses of delays, problems with ticket readers and then the often thing i saw when your phone runs out of charge when you have been out all day.
Funnily enough the 02 have scrapped it, that’s with 12,000 people, 60,000 people really ?
My old man (75), hasn’t got a phone etc and doesn’t want one, probably like a lot of the older supporters, so that rules them out going as well then..
Good old west ham. (sorry new, we don’t give a West Ham)
We are trying to watch a football match, not enter a nuclear power station.

  3. It’s ridiculous for them it’s to do with Covid and to stop fans having to go to the ticket office.
How many fans ever went to the office due to a problem with their card ?!
Teething issues at the least with the new system are bound to need more visits.
It is purely about ticket sharing or loaning.

  4. Stick with the existing system, it works and covid irrelevant for this purpose.
