West Ham United defender Vladimír Coufal has voiced his frustration over limited playing time with the Hammers but insists he holds no grudges against head coach Julen Lopetegui. The 32-year-old has made only two Premier League starts this season, sparking rumours of a potential January exit as Galatasaray reportedly monitor his situation.
Vladi did make an appearance off the bench in the Irons 0-0 bore draw against Everton and was one of the bright sparks in a dull game.
Coufal, speaking to Czech media before the Czech Republic’s UEFA Nations League clash with Albania, shared that Lopetegui had assured him of ample chances this season, but those promises have yet to materialise.
“I spoke to the coach, and he expressed satisfaction with my professionalism, saying I’d have opportunities,” Coufal remarked. “There’s no bad blood, but the playing time hasn’t come. If things don’t change, we’ll need to discuss my future.”
Coufal has been an excellent servant since signing for £5m from Slavia Prague but has seen little game time for the Hammers this season. With his contract expiring next summer, West Ham may decide to part ways with the veteran defender during the upcoming transfer window.
Claret & Hugh have spoken directly to a top Hammers source about Coufal’s contract situation and we have been informed that the Czech full back could be looking to sign a pre-contract with a no domestic club in January.
However, if West Ham were to receive a nominal fee for the player in the next transfer window they could yet be tempted to sell.
Fantastic servant not only for the club but also the community. I hope many will be as disappointed as me to see him go.
AWB has shown he’s an impressive force though so game-time will be limited for the Czech enforcer. If there is a need for a right back or a change in formation I am NEVER worried and ALWAYS pleased to see him come off the subs bench or to start.
On ya Vlad all the best of luck mate, I’m sure you’ll find a place to finish your career in style, we’ll miss those 50-50’s where we know who’s not backing out 😉
I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get a few minutes here and there before moving on and maybe … just maybe that goal we’ve all been waiting for.
As much as I like the bloke he’s nowhere near as good as AWB
Ditto Robert…….
Good servant.
Times up.
Sell in January.
Thank you Vlad, excellent Hammer!
