The transfer of Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham has been completed, and he is now officially a Hammers player.

C&H has exclusively spoken to an agent close to the deal, who revealed that the defender signed his new Hammers contract at 4:30 a.m. this morning, as the negotiating team worked long into the night to finalise the move.

There was late interest from Juventus, as a top club source revealed to Claret & Hugh yesterday, but it was never going to derail the negotiations with Juve unable to afford the player.

Understandably, nobody is willing to share the finer details of the contract, which is believed to be a five-year deal with an option.

Todibo will not feature in today’s game against Celta Vigo at the London Stadium but will be available for the season opener against Aston Villa.

West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui has spoken to the player personally and outlined his role in what should hopefully be a much-improved Hammers defence this season.

    An option or obligation?

    • Matt says:

Apparently both, it’s said it’s supposed to be a loan with very easy targets to make it into an obligation

So at a complete guess I would after he’s started 10 games?

    • Frankly says:

Option of 1 or 2 more years added to the contract is how i read it, we wanted a loan at first but i do believe we signed him on a 5y deal

  • Muffy says:

What I read is it is an obligation after playing for West Ham for so many games that would be easily achieved.

  • UKBEARDO says:

Read a rumour yesterday that this is just a stop gap for Todibo and a route to allow him to sign for Man U in the future due to the Ineos connection and the UEFA ruling? Either way we should get a few good seasons out of him and then if Man U are a more attractive prospect to him and a handsome profit to boot. Of course if he proves to be everything we’re hoping and we push on to the next level, he may wanna stay 🤞

  • Munky says:

Reading about his injury record, hopefully we have protected ourselves there.

    • Peter says:

Yes zouma is going on 2 years loan al ahky pay all wage but we have right to call back if tolibo long injury but only until end of next windows soe we can call back to February

Thats what they are telling me

      • Steve says:

That doesn’t make sense as only got 1 year left on contract, would assume free transfer or loan for a season till he’s out of contract
And to be honest with his knees find the recall clause unlikely honestly

  • John Lattimore says:

Still not announced by the club
