West Ham are delaying a decision on whether to loan out Mohamadou Kanté and George Earthy in the upcoming January transfer window despite significant interest.
That’s according to a top London Stadium source who spoke exclusively to Claret & Hugh this morning.
The two highly rated youngsters both featured in last night’s 1-1 away win over League Two side Colchester United in the Vertu Motors Trophy, with Earthy getting on the scoresheet. Kanté, meanwhile, made his senior Hammers debut in last week’s draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford and has continued to impress since arriving from Paris FC.
Earthy has spent much of the season recovering from injury and, like Kanté, has been linked with a possible loan move next month.
When C&H asked our top club source whether plans were in place to send the pair out for experience, we were told: “No decision has been made yet.”
Nuno Waiting on January Transfers Before Green Light
This matches what a senior transfer insider previously told us — that West Ham are holding off until Nuno Espírito Santo can fully assess the squad once potential January arrivals are clearer.
There has already been considerable Championship interest in Kanté, but for now, both youngsters remain part of Nuno’s plans while the club evaluates their options.

Every young player who has been given a chance recently has proved to be really good and have not let us down. Congratulations to Noble , Robson etc
Why Earthy and Kante are not getting a chance is ridiculous. Seems that Nuno is not much better than the last two managers who would sooner spend millions on overseas players who will take ages to adapt to the premier league.
You are so right Ted. If Nuno had given the young unproven talents their chances in the last five games we might have picked up fifteen points instead of the paltry eight we have ended up with. Writing is on the wall for the Portuguese know-nothing.
Happy Christmas.
How would this affect Earthys contract which finishes in 2027?
Keep Earthy and Kante send Guilherme out on loan.
Both of them need to be playing senior, first team football – no question. Let’s hope that they get it soon (for me, at West Ham preferably). There must be a path into the first team open for both of them, in my opinion & it must be tightly structured & definite. Let’s hope that whatever happens next, we can get Earthy to sign that contract !
