West Ham chairman David Sullivan has the âhide of a rhinocerosâ and will remain in charge of the Hammers until he receives the amount of money he wants.
Thatâs the opinion of former Crystal Palace chairman and talkSPORT host Simon Jordan, who spoke about the growing pressure being applied to the West Ham co-owner.
Sullivan is under mounting pressure at West Ham, with a vote of no confidence from the FAB, protests outside the London Stadium, and a boycott planned for Mondayâs Premier League clash with Brentford.
âSullivan Has the Hide of a Rhinocerosâ
When Jordan was asked for his thoughts on West Ham fansâ discontent by co-host Jim White, he didnât hold back in his assessment: âSullivan has the hide of a rhinoceros. And the only thing that will take David Sullivan out of the door is the right amount of money. And David Sullivan is the arbiter of that.â
West Ham fans, led by Hammers United, are demanding that Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady resign their executive positions at the club. The board is being urged to appoint competent football people to oversee day-to-day operations â but the ultimate goal is to force Sullivan and Brady out altogether.
Jordan did, however, offer a small shred of encouragement to fans that sustained pressure could accelerate Sullivanâs departure: âIf you were constantly put under pressure? Sure. But football clubs are more often bought than sold. Which means someone comes knocking on your door or they’re in distress situations.”
Jordan continued “And I suppose the fans will say, âWell, we’ll create distress. We’ll create distress by the very nature of not spending the kind of money that we would ordinarily spend.â And we will create the distress that creates the downward pressure.â

Ralph is entirely correct and only buyers likely to be those who have more money than sense or want to indulge in sportswashing ie Arabs!
Not just David Sullivan. Everyone needs a thick skin to be in this kind of business.
Refreshing to read a sensible opinion from Simon Jordan. Well done unearthing that, Gonzo.
Whoâs going to buy the club? We donât own the stadium we play in. All they would be buying is the brand name and business model. To make the fans happy they would have to build a new stadium at the cost of billions of pounds. Itâs not going to happen.
