Six-up Sakho leads charge for Sam’s birthday!

Burnley 1 Irons 3

Sakho whamactionThe  Hammers put back to back wins together with a fine victory in a seriously exciting game at Turf Moor.

Two goals just after the break from their Diafra  Sakho and Enner Valencia was added to by old warhorse substitute Carlton Cole – all with headers.

The hosts pulled a goal back through George Boyd with his first goal for the club to put the game back in the balance, but in the end the Hammers were good value for their win.

Sam Allardyce headed out of Turf Moor for an eve of 60th birthday night out with pals declaring: “I asked the lads for that one.

The hosts had dominated in the first half when George Boyd hit the bar after three minutes although Stewart Downing was unlucky when curling an effort against  the post.

But the Irons produced a classy second half performance as both teams continued to give it a right go leaving the manager with a huge smile on his face at the end.

He said: “It’s my birthday tomorrow and I asked the lads to get me a result because I am going out with my friends here in the north west this evening.

“Our quality, especially with the first two goals, was the difference. They were two outstanding crosses, and two outstanding headers.

“Diafra Sakho is a determined lad, and he has six in all games now. We look like we have goals in the team. And I’m pleased for Enner Valencia as well because he wanted to play after international duty.”
