Italian media outlets are reporting that Juventus have rejected a low-ball offer from West Ham for Argentine winger Matias Soule. The Italian club reportedly turned down a £20m bid from the Hammers and value their trickster at closer to £35M.

The biggest problem for Juve is that they are financially strapped, and the footballing world knows it. Therefore, it’s understandable that West Ham would start the bidding low, particularly considering our transfer priorities are a striker and central defender. The truth of the matter is that whilst Tim Steidten likes Soule, the club are well stocked in wide areas and don’t need to pay over the odds.

Juventus do appear to be increasingly desperate, and West Ham are at the centre of much of the speculation surrounding their players. Over the last few days, there have been numerous leaks from the Italians suggesting new Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui is keen to sign Filip Kostić, who featured in last night’s Euro 24 opener for England. This claim has been refuted by Hammers sources and perhaps demonstrates just how desperate Juve are to create an auction.

Soule’s agents recently held talks with representatives from West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Leicester City in London according to Serie A sources but it should be taken with a pinch of salt.

TuttoSport reports that West Ham are the most serious contender for Soule’s signature, but it is clear that Juve are trying to generate as much interest in their players as possible.
