Without yet having tied up a deal to sell Mohammed Kudus, West Ham suddenly find themselves the subject of ‘reports’ linking them with a host of players to replace the Ghanaian. The Kudus cash appears to have been spent at least five times over by the media in just a couple of days as the Irons are apparently ‘chasing’ Harvey Elliot, Richard Rios, Zion Suzuki – that’s a hundred million in just one sentence.
However, Sky Sports, who are known for generally keeping their feet on the ground (relatively speaking) with news, and when Sascha Tavolieri ( Sky Sports Switzerland) claimed that the Hammers were interested in a transfer for former Premier League frontman Ademola Lookman I did something of a double take.
The full article, reported by sportsview.co.uk does indeed confirm that :
“West Ham United are interested in recruiting the services of Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman this summer as they prepare for life without Mohammed Kudus, according to Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri.”

West Ham – linked Ademola Lookman, African footballer of the year 2024.
Which on first viewing sounded fanciful, knowing Lookman is a €60m player. According to their report:
West Ham see Lookman as perfect for them after he weighed in with 17 goals and ten assists in 2023-24 and 20 goals and seven assists in 2024-25, but they will face competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid for his services…The London-born forward has Premier League experience having featured for Everton, Fulham and Leicester City, and a return to England could appeal to him as he has unfinished business in the top-flight”
And then, is that any more fanciful than David Sullivan’s bid on the never-never for Jhon Duran in the winter? That was – from memory – £57 million spread over about five years.
Maybe not so fanciful, after all. That’s got you thinking, hasn’t it.
I don’t want to read these rubbish rumours anymore, it’s time the club started to pull it’s finger out and get some decent players in, otherwise
as the old song goes, “ We’re going down to the Endsleigh” !
The more Kudus saga goes on the more it appears that he will be at club next season (which can’t be bad).
Timing is not favourable to continue search for wanted incoming players.
Which could mean a bucket load of cash sitting in the bank.
Can see Sully looking like a Cheshire cat.
No it really hasn’t, if he has other options including staying where he is why would he come to a struggling team in rebuild mode?
The club has screwed up so badly n this window it’s doubtful we are going to get as anything like what the team needs.
