Sky Sports journo: Hammer not in Moyes’ plans

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth claims that Vladimir Coufal is not in David Moyes’ plans ahead of the January transfer window.

The Czechia international has seen his game time significantly limited this season and he has made just seven starts for the club in the Premier League.

The Hammers have, instead, often played summer signing Thilo Kehrer at right-back, despite him being signed to offer cover at centre-back following the pre-season injury sustained by Nayef Aguerd, and have also used Ben Johnson in the position.

Sheth, as a result, believes that Coufal has slipped down the pecking order and could well be sold in the January transfer window should an offer be tabled.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, the Sky Sports reporter said: “If you look at the stats, he’s [Coufal] made seven Premier League starts this season.

“The likes of Ben Johnson have started ahead of him at right-back.

“I think more significantly when centre-back Nayef Aguerd was injured in pre-season, the club signed Thilo Kehrer.

“I think he was predominantly brought in as a central defender, but what has transpired is that he’s ended up playing right-back.

“If that’s not a message to Vladimír Coufal that he’s not part of the plans, then I don’t know what is.”

Coufal has been a worthy servant to the Hammers but they could look to cash in during the next transfer window.

In total, the 30-year-old has made 87 appearances for the Irons since signing for the club back in 2020.

  1. Since his injury,he is not performing to the standards he initially set.Is he a one season wonder or blame Moyes. The same could be said about Soucek.I rarely miss watching any of our games and to me he plays like a headless chicken at times but fans often say
look at his stats.Theres no money for Moyes in January so sales are required to get players in.

  2. Yes, he’s not the same player since his injury, John has not kicked on, and Kehrer after a promising start has had a couple of hiccups! 🙄

It’s ironic that after years when left back has been the problematic position, the emphasis has moved to right-back being the problem position! 😳

My ‘sauces’ have told me that Bayer Leverkusen is the likely landing spot for Coufal! 🤔
