Sky Sports Reveal West Ham Picks Ahead of Chaotic Window

The revelation that West Ham will be active in the January transfer window will surprise nobody. But today’s news from Sky Sports, highlighting the precise areas Nuno Espírito Santo expects to strengthen, may come as something of a surprise.

According to Sky’s Chief Transfer Correspondent Kaveh Solhekol, West Ham are targeting at least one defender, one midfielder, and one attacker when the transfer window opens.

It was the words “at least” that caught my attention — because, frankly, I suspect it’ll take more than that.

Claret & Hugh’s own transfer source has consistently highlighted just how much of a mess West Ham’s recruitment has been in recent years, so it’s no shock that major surgery is still required.

Questions Over Timing and Funding

It does beg the question: where will West Ham get the necessary transfer funds from?

And more importantly — if money is now available for reinforcements in the winter window, why did it take so long for funds to be spent in the summer?

Of course, none of this is confirmed fact. It wasn’t too long ago that the club were pleading poverty and pointing to PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) as a reason for their cautious spending.

It could be that Sky Sports and Kaveh Solhekol haven’t received the latest memo from the club’s owners about the supposed lack of funds.

Hopefully, someone at board level has finally realised that failing to spend in January could lead to relegation — and that would be far more expensive than signing three players now

Mate at least 3 but the current players also need to step up they are not running , closing down , working hard enough at all or showing passion . Not good enough , so when you say at least 3 exactly that but need more . Sullivan to not pick players to recruit . Would be nice to see at least one manager backed and Nuno gets who he wants .Money talks relegation costs more and Sully won’t like the thought of that 😂 ⚒

Apart from again highlighting what a disaster the approach to Summer transfer window was ( because of Sullivan and less directly Potter for not defining the critical requirements ) if somehow there is now money available who is deciding on targets?
Somehow Potter didn’t insist on new CBs, a CF and CMs before the start of the season. But apart from maybe the keeper the players they eventually brought in seem good, Magassa, Fernandes and Diouf all have improved the squad.
    Sullivans Wilson hasn’t.
Sullivan announcing to the world we had to sell to buy and holding back finance and Potter not understanding the CBs and CF situation had to be addressed is so amateur. Along with losing a few games before getting some CMs in, then not playing them…
Sullivan could be wasting lots of money again.

It’s Sullivan – it’s always panic recruitment when we’re deep in the s**t never recruitment from a position of strength, but all goes back to the clown not wanting to buy a good manager out of contract, but quite happy to spend £30 / £40 mil’ on mug players bought by Sullivan / mug managers.
S**t has hit the fan now, though – Houdini wouldn’t get us out of the carnage created by Sullivan 👎
