Sky Sports News are today reporting what Claret & Hugh revealed at the start of the week â Celtic are poised to make an offer for West Ham United striker Callum Wilson.
Wilson has been deemed surplus to requirements since the Hammers signed Taty Castellanos and Pablo for a combined ÂŁ50m. As a result, there has been speculation that West Ham could terminate Wilsonâs contract, allowing the summer signing to move on elsewhere.
Leicester City remain favourites to land the striker, but Celtic now appear serious contenders according to the latest reports.
Castellanos has undoubtedly brought much-needed energy to the Hammersâ frontline, but there is a quote from a club insider that has been ringing in my ears. When asked about Wilsonâs potential departure, a top West Ham source told Claret & Hugh: âWeâll wait and see how the two new strikers settle first.â
Why Let Wilson Go Now?
In the case of Castellanos, he has shown against Nottingham Forest and QPR that he is up to the pace and intensity of English football. Unfortunately, the same cannot yet be said for Pablo, who looks like he is playing the game at a different speed and will need time to acclimatise.
For that reason, I would not sanction Wilsonâs release at this stage because, right now, he looks the better option. Nuno EspĂrito Santo has been reluctant to use the striker, but circumstances may yet force a rethink.
If Celtic were to sign West Hamâs second-highest scorer this season, they would be getting a player who has proven both his form and fitness since arriving from Newcastle United. Letting him go now could leave West Ham dangerously short of reliable options when they need them most.
Catch 22 with Pablo. Play Wilson and we will never know. Play Pablo and he may take time to win our approval. Time we do not have.
Need to take the leap of faith and get Pablo starting regularly. Good coaching will help him turn that raw ability into positive game changing performances.
Dither and we lose. COYI
Iâm hearing this very much a falling out between Wilson and Nuno.
100% should be playing ahead of Pablo. Nuno has got this totally wrong unless there is something going on behind closed doors that we don’t know.
As regards Pablo running on a slower speed, all we need to do is just wind him up and watch him go. Woohoo! But if that doesn’t do it then a change of Energizer battery might help. If all else fails then maybe a good kick up the arsenal might do it. Go Pablo go!!!
