Sky Sports: Second bid rejected

The Hammers have had a second bid for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana rejected by Lille, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

The Irons have pursued a deal for the 20-year-old, who is already a full Belgium international.

A bid was tabled for the player earlier in the transfer window, worth in the region of £21m, but it was rejected by the French club.

And a second offer, said to be worth €30m, or £25.4m, has now been both tabled and rejected.

While a further bid is not said to have been ruled out, the Irons are now said to be pursuing other targets.

Boss David Moyes has so far snapped up Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, and Flynn Downes, and may now shift his focus to a more attainable player.

This is one to keep an eye on, though, as we know that the club are interested in Onana and could come back in.

  1. This hints to maybe Soucek being gone? I guess it could be Coventry? Either way, I think Soucek has always given 100%, so would be disappointed to see him go. He wasn’t quite as good last season, but his form will return. Likewise, Coventry seems like a good player to have in the squad. Personally, I’d if we were looking at positions other than midfield at the moment. Left Back, Striker, and maybe a Yarmolenko/Vlasic type replacement (if Vlasic is going to be loaned out).

  2. Sources wasn’t as good as his season before simply because moyes played him as a more defensive midfielder. Why can’t moyes play players in their best position and the same applies with vlasic

  3. He is worth a lot more than £25m we should up the offer to £40m the guy is a proper player, it frustrates me when I see our chairmen playing lowball tactics, the club don’t need to sell, they have already sold enough players and made enough money that they can sit tight. He is twice the player Kalvin Phillips is and looks to be another similar to Rice so we should make an offer that gets their attention and frightens teams like Arsenal off, if we have him and Rice in the midfield we will be much better able to stop teams like City and Liverpool playing their game, we could even if we kept Soucek play him further forward where he can help Antonio close down from the front and be more of a goal threat.
