With West Ham’s bid for Mads Hermansen said to be very much alive and kicking, it was interesting to hear Sky Sports News’ latest take on the ongoing saga.
During one of their late-night transfer round-ups on the platform’s 24-hour sports channel, the subject of Hermansen was brought up again.
Only the previous evening, West Ham were reportedly out of the running for the Leicester keeper—only for respected journalist Henry Winter to reveal that talks were still ongoing.
The Danish stopper is believed to have a £25m valuation, so when Winter claimed negotiations were ‘close’, it would imply there’s not much left to resolve. However, things quickly took another twist.
Sky’s reporter went on to suggest that West Ham had only bid £13m for Hermansen, and that the two clubs remained “miles apart” on valuation—with the Foxes holding firm and Irons bosses refusing to budge.
With a ridiculous five names still in the frame, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to separate fact from fiction. However, I still suspect Hermansen is the number one choice—with Botafogo’s John Victor waiting patiently in a Rio departure lounge as the ‘in case of emergency, break glass’ option.
For now, all we can do is wait—but the clock is ticking, and the keeper carousel shows no sign of slowing.
We are getting two. We need them both.
Sealed apparently. I’ll believe it when I see the shirt on him doing the irons
We should get Victor irrespective of what happens with Mads, he is an upgrade on Areola and we can always loan Areola out or sell him.
Am fed up with the rubbish with us lowballing other clubs then keeping other transfers in limbo.
That difficulty of separating fact from fiction is one that all West Ham fans have had to live with for years, and we don’t have ITK’s or trusted sources to fall back on. You are right, it is frustrating, especially when common sense seems to play no part. How many more times are WHU going to regret losing a top player for less than they would gain from a couple of places further up the league?
I said on another article yesterday that the 🤡 treats players as commodities rather than human beings. A list of five is ridiculous and I really feel for Victor who is doubt thinking a deal to the London Stadium is imminent when you know he will be dumped as soon as a better option signs. This is why any players with knowledge of the way the 🤡transacts business are just not interested. Add to this the clubs who will think twice next time we come knocking.
Hermansen might be the number one choice but Sullivan won’t want to cough up the money.
I just dont think west ham are good at negotiations and every other team knows.
Gonzo , do you know what happened to the French lad we signed and loaned him back for the season, thought he should have joined up by now
It’s a bit like the Jhon Duran saga all over again. David Sullivan sure has form!
