Slav arrives – his greatest quotes from the year!

|

bilicSlaven Bilic has breezed into the club this year leaving some fantastic quotes littered around along the way.

We’ve hunted back through ClaretandHugh since his arrival and it didn’t take long to find these crackers – unforgettable stuff from the main man.

On his arrival at West Ham

“I’m really glad to be back with West Ham United. It’s in the Premier League, which is among the best in the world. It’s a big challenge and you are competing with the best and what better club to do it with than West Ham.

“I remember West Ham as a special club. I love these kinds of special clubs. My last club, Besiktas, was that kind of club. It’s not about the size – West Ham is big Club – there is something special about them – they are a cult clubs.

“It is a great place to play and I felt like I was at home. It is a big privilege and a big responsibility to now be manager and I hope that I will prove it to the Board, players and fans.
“My first priority when choosing a club is to look at its ambitions. When I spoke to the Chairmen and Karren Brady, they made clear that it is not only the fantastic new Stadium we are moving into, but they showed their determination and ambition to make what is a big club even bigger.

Slav on Liverpool win

“We played good, we started well. We were well organised, and had a plan

“The players worked to the plan perfectly. Their movement, concentration and possession was top level.

“We parked the bus but we didn’t put the handbrake on. It was simply great defending when we didn’t have the ball.”

I don’t know how long this is going to last. The one advantage we have is that we have flair players who fight for the team. Players like Payet and Lanzini are running for the team right at the end and it’s not common for these types of players to do that. They tend to be more flashy.

That’s why we are winning games and it’s a good feeling – it’s like walking into a pub full of girls.

I don’t have a name for the way I like my teams to play, sometimes you have to flexible. But you can always have principles, some things that never change.

“We will always work hard, stick together as a team and look to play to our strengths. We want to be exciting, we want to play good football.”

“Even the bad days at Chadwell Heath were enjoyable, it was like a family there. That was one of the reasons why I came back. West Ham is my club. I am connected, my son was born in London.”

“West Ham is a big club, but it can still grow. It’ll take time, not just one season, but after several years, with the right decisions, who knows where we’ll be.”

“I think we have a good chance of winning a cup. We have to believe we can. We are going to try and win it. We are ambitious.”

“We are trying add one player, one striker. We are close to finishing one deal.”

“West Ham is growing. With ambitious Chairmen, in a few years time we can think about qualifying for the Champions League”
