Slav backs Payet for the big one

|

SlavandpayetSlaven Bilic believes Dimitri Payet has a chance of winning the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Frenchman has contributed nine goals and nine assists this season and was named Premier League Player of the Year at the London Football Awards on Thursday night and Bilic thinks it may not be his last accolade this season.

Bilic said: ‘Its a big thing for him and a nice award not only for him but for the whole team.

He is a player that has been here such a short time but has made a strong impact – he is a goalscorer, a very attractive player, doing things on the pitch that are lifting you out of your seat.”

‘It is what football is all about, he excites you with the way he plays and is definitely one of the contenders. If he got the reward in London, where there are some really great clubs, he has got a chance.’

And Bilic again declared that the Irons star should be in the plans of French boss Didier Deschamps saying: ‘All I can say is that if they have in those positions four, five or six better options than Dimitri then they are going to win the Euros easy,’ he said. ‘He can play in any team in the world.’

Exciting player, loved the way he spun in the Everton box in the second half, leaving Mc Carrthy on his arse, making a fool of himself. That in itself was worth the price of admission.

If the votes have not been counted yet this performance could be the one that wins it for him
