Slaven Bilic is very wary of this afternoon’s game at Stoke and dismissive of suggestions that the Potters may have headed for the sunbeds.
He said: “They still have something to play for by claiming the most points ever in their history so it’s going to be tough. It’s the last game of the season, there much to play for so the pressure is there for everybody.
“For us finishing fifth is gong to be difficult but we look to hope that Manchester United to slip up. Fourth? Well If City lose and we score 25 goals yes!
“We have to go out and try to replicate our performance against Manchester United. It’s been a great season and it has been a brilliant season – a great season – we want to take something out of it by qualifying for Europe. It’s not crucial but it’s very important.
“Stoke have players who can hurt you at a stroke and we go up there expecting a very difficult game despite them being in a poor run. They have conceded four goals on two or three occasions but we can’t take them lightlyon the last game.”
Sorry Slav but your having a laugh it’s not crucial. It is crucial if we want to sign top players. Top players want to play in Europe. It certainly helped recruitment last year being in Europe even if we didn’t stay in it too long. I would much prefer European competitive matches preseason too rather than rubbish games against lower league opposition.
