Slav puts his foot down – he’s not leaving

Angelo_Ogbonna_BGR-ITA_2012Slaven Bilic rates Angelo Ogbonna as important at the back as Dimi Payet is further forward and has no intention of selling the Italian.

Reports have been circulating that Roma are keen on the 28 year old but the Irons boss has made it clear privately he will resist all bids.

After the arrival of Payet, Slav had made central defence his major priority are on arriving at the club and Ogbonna was his single target.

And after a season which included injuries, Ogbonna responded superbly to nail down a place at central defence – plus of course THAT goal against Liverpool – and show why he is one of Slav’s most important players.

ClaretadHugh was told this morning that the manager had made it clear this was a player he wanted from the moment he took over at the club and that he rates him very highly indeed.

A source said: “Dimi rates him as highy defensively as he does Dimi offensively. There’s no chance of Angelo going anywhere.”

  1. No way can we let him go.A definate Not For Sale sign on Oggy.

  2. Good to hear. He oozes class and control at the back

  3. No price No sale we have 5 good years left in him enough time for all our young talented player to progress,
We need another like him but right footed,
    Another great signing last season.

  4. It’s time for other clubs to realise we are no longer a selling club.Good on yer Slav.

  5. Great news, now lets do the same for Sakho and Enner. These players are vital for a busy season next year. Put the for sale sign up for AC.

  6. AC really is like Marmite amongst our fans isn’t he.Ones who want rid yesterday others who think the sun shines out of his posterior

    • Antman, you are right. I understand why people want to keep him – as an impact player. But this is exactly the reason I want to sell him. You bring him on for 20 mins he scores a goal and then he starts the next game. I don’t want to see us going this route again. I have had enough of it under BFS and Bilic last season and it is destroying our free flowing football and it has taken away from a brilliant partnership between Sakho and Valencia. So for me the best option is to sell him as it forces us to play football the right way.

  7. Offer them Reid for the same loan fee, we can keep Burke and Oxford as cover and it will probably make Reid a better defender when he comes back.

  8. hopefully the days of players coming to West Ham just to use our club as a stepping stone and move on as soon as the bigger clubs come sniffing are gone.. personally imho i don’t think Oggy or Payet are that sort, can’t say the same for Sakho or Enner.

  9. Unfortunately, as soon as Sullivan gets the sniff of a profit he will be gone

  10. But a profit is only any good if you can replace him with as good for less,
Everyone we look at who is as good will cost more,
Sell Read or Tomo you will make a profit still have Ginge Burke Henry and Oxford plus Kouyate and Novedt who can play alongside him,
Then buy a great CH to play with him with the proceeds
