Slaven Bilic has explained his thinking on leaving Andy Carroll out of the squad for tomorrow afternoon’s game against Swansea at the Liberty.
AC has a small groin strain which will keep him out for the one game only and the boss explained why declaring: ” “Given his history, it is definitely not worth risking.”
With the Irons desperate for a win after their recent run the manager added: “It is a big blow. It should be one game only – that is what the medical team have told me.
“It is nothing major. It was stiff in training but the scan showed it was a little bit more. It is not a long time out but if you are talking about the game on Sunday, it is very unlikely he will play.
“It would be the same with any other player. I am tough with my medical staff. I want my players back as soon as possible but under one condition – that it is not very risky in terms of a long-term injury.
“When you have a player with Andy’s history you are thinking more about the risk – and the risk is bigger of course. I don’t like to risk and am not ready to risk long-term injuries for the sake of 90 minutes.
“If it was the cup final and there was a break afterwards, you might grit your teeth and go for it.”
More auto suggestion or ********* ?
Just having a giggle
Keep him safe to sell to Hippo, how many times must I repeat that to see it come true
carroll has scored 4 goals in last 4 against swansea but true why risk it. no need for false nines obrien and burke at centreback and tomkins in midfield this year. no need to start talking about the need for a new manager or why we are not buying any players in the jan window despite the injuries. yes we were doing better last year and sitting third but we should have a better second half of season when the better players like payet and lanzini return
Unlike the previous incumbent,
