Slaven Bilic has gone on the record to announce that he will be talking to James Collins about a new deal.
As ClaretandHugh reported 24 hours ago (Tues) the manager is ready to talk turkey with the central defender which could see the 32 year stay at the club.
We reported that it was the big topic of conversation inside the club and that the manager was edging towards offer Ginge a one or two year contract.
Now Slav has revealed at www.whufc.com that is precisely his agenda adding that he “definitely” wants to talk with him thus seemingly slamming the door shut on any hopes Sam Allardyce may have had of grabbing the player in this January’s transfer window.
He said: ““Definitely. I will do that with him. He wasn’t just good against Swansea. I have said a number of times, he’s a brilliant pro.
“He has been from day one, whether he was on the bench or just training or playing for five minutes coming or half an hour, or now 90 minutes, he’s magnificent for us.”
After his performance last week his name must be the first name on the sheet this week !
We will need him at his best again this week v villa with ogbonna and tanks who were also very good !
If it was me I’d give him a two-year deal to keep him out of the clutches of other Clubs and to be fair to him, he’s always given his best, obviously dropped a few goolies and been sent off stupidly, but he’s a real hundred percenter who you can rely on – a bit of a theme this afternoon!
Excellent news! He might not be automatic for a starting berth but he is a reliable team player who puts his neck on the line for the team. That he loves the club as well is a real bonus although not why he should be offered one more deal.
