Slav weighs up defender deal

gingeSlaven Bilic will be extremely reluctant to allow warrior James Collins out of West Ham this winter or even next summer.

He may be ready to offer the 32 year at least a new one year deal such has been his contribution to the Hammers cause when needed this season.

Sources inside the club have revealed to ClaretandHugh over the last 24 hours that everybody inside West Ham has been overwhelmed by Ginge’s heroic effort at Swansea and that a new contract was now the biggest topic of conversation at Chadwell Heath.

The pragmatic business decision might be to take a fee if it’s offered with the central defender coming out of contract in the summer but such was the quality shown from the player at Swansea another reality has dawned.

A source told us: “We will have to think about a new contract for him because the ability, passion and desire is burning as fiercely as is possible.

“You can’t put a price on that can you and Slaven was mightily impressed and has expressed that. He knows top quality central defending more than most and what we saw from James at the weekend was amazing plus he’s such a great club man.”

  1. Give Ginge a new deal.
Great back up and always gives his all. sometimes looses his rag but what a servant he’s been..

    • I’m bang on with you there.
He had the best stats of all the central defenders last year.
So pleased this performance can shut the doubters up….at least for a while!
Sure he makes mistakes; he can over-commit; mostly a block etc will come off, but if it doesn’t, his fellow centre halves often know this and cover behind him. We would be mad to let him go, and a fantastic servant. He gives is guts, guts, guts…a true Hammer!

  2. Our Celtic warrior is proving his worth at the moment that’s for sure.

  3. …but if another Club comes in with a multi-year deal he should be allowed to leave with the Club’s gratitude – he has to put his own interests first!

  4. Ginge has been a great servant to westham football club and his contribution this season has been immense .i believe the uncertainty over his future and the euros coming up has added another edge to his game along with the fact that he has said that with his contract coming to an end he needs to go out every week and put a performance in to keep himself in the shop window. I believe that has been the biggest factor in his performances this season and i hope that if he does get a new contract his performances dont drop .he has been a loyal servant and deserves a 1yr contract ….if we want to free up some funds we should be pushing carroll and jelavic out there to prospective buyers

    • Ginge has always given his best – contract / Euros or not – There is nothing half hearted about the man whatsoever, and for that he desrves to be the great favourite that he is!
