Slav’s bizarre Randolph explanation

Slaven-Bilic (1)Slaven Bilic has dropped a heavy hint that Darren Randolph will retain the goalkeeping sweater for the game against Everton at the weekend.

Despite a desperate performance against Sunderland and errors which clearly lost the team two points it seems the manager’s view is that change is not such a good idea.

Randolph’s displays have been a worrying feature of our  recent games and he has come in for condemnation from many fans.

But in a bizarre explanation of his position the manager says he doesn’t like changing the keeper on a hame to game basis!

That’s a hard one to fathom given the stopper has been between the sticks since the late 3-2 defeat against Spurs back last  November.

Slav’s precise quote from the official site’s Manager on Monday column reads: “Some journalists asked me about whether I am going to change my goalkeeper again after Saturday’s game.

I told them I don’t like to change goalkeepers on a game-to-game basis. Darren Randolph had been waiting for his chance for a long time, and he has done well for us.

We have to stay behind our players, especially goalkeepers, so that’s it.

We will look back over the Sunderland game and see what we can do better to avoid the same situations occurring.

We have five matches left, three of them at home, and we will now prepare for Everton and work to finish as high in the table as we can.”

For me? Uncnvicing and bizarre

  1. I said when fans called for Adrian to be dropped this would end up as a never ending circle.Randy has a poor game, bring in Adrian, then he will cock up and they will be saying bring in Randy 😁

  2. Both keepers are nightmares – I can’t wait for this disastrous Season to end!

  3. Can anyone name me a worse keeper in the Prem than Randolph? I’m so sick of this season and so sick of Slaven Bilics tactics, signings and decisions. We are becoming a laughing stock

  4. Everton & Lukaku, West Ham’s deadly nemesis, but funny enough, if Randolph can emulate the same way that Mignolet mananges to not get hemmed in during corners or set pieces, and the team manage to protect him better, then we can win this game & the game at Stoke on the Saturday after. I don’t know about Spurs & Liverpool but certainly at Burnley on the final day, a win is possible, giving us 46 pts. Fine margins have been West Ham’s downfall this season, as if 22 pts hadn’t been lost from winning positions we’d sitting on 59 point in 6th. Incredible isn’t it? While in my opinion Adrian can make better saves than Randolph, Randolph shouldn’t be left in that position by his team in having to make desperation saves. It’s Randolph’s communication with his team mates in the final 3rd & control of his defense that gives him the nod for me. On another note, if Joe Hart wants to come to London then for heavens sake sign him West Ham, as both current keepers can make way if someone of his calibre became available. Torino can’t afford him so for him West Ham

  5. Ridiculous. Sadly this is the kind of thin good why Bilic shouldn’t continue. Randolph has been a liability for a while and has cost us probably 10 points since Christmas.

  6. Well he is going to see what we can do better. That might include using a gk who can catch the bloody ball. Maybe?

On the predictive text I just noticed it came up as ‘using a girl who can…’ There is an idea Slaven…

  7. time to get rid of slav had enough of his stupid tactics

  8. Beyond bizarre.
I was in favour of keeping Bilic until the end of the season but the bloke (nice as he may be) has clearly lost the plot completely. Put Trevor Brooking in charge for the last 5 games. If Randolph plays, I can’t see us getting to 40 points.

  9. we better hope we got enough points because we will not win an other point

  10. It was for this typical SB comment that I voted to twist in the recent poll. Randy has not performed well since Christmas. In the Adrian era when his form dipped and he lost confidence, I applauded the switch to Randy. But now he is performing worse than Adrian before his demotion to the bench. So SB must be fair, apply the same principals and bring Adrian back. In not doing so he will make another player pi..ed off and he will not be doing Randy any favours by continuing with him. Which leads me on to the Sachs situation. He has by all accounts put a great deal of effort in to get fit and he is rewarded with no game time. Now if we had a striker that was playing out of his socks and knocking a goal in every other game I could understand. But we all know that is not the case. I think we also know that there is history between the two protagonists. But SB has to pick the best team for the club and ignore his own personal agenda and in this case I do not believe he has done so. The fact is, as I have said before SB is too stubborn for his own and the club’s good. I could mention Antonio being played out of position, his perseverance with Feghouli and Torre when they clearly are not EPL quality, etc etc. I am sorry but for the sake of the club and it’s great supporters Slav has run his course and must go.

  11. On current form , I believe Randolph is causing alarm bells to ring with every cross our defence attempts to clear, so we have no choice but to re-instate Adrian. Whilst not a Bilic fan, I can see his flaws, as do the two D’s (I hope), but would still give him until close season then shake-up his coaching team, and see how we proceed during the first couple of months of 2017 – 2018; if it’s more of the same, he’ll have to go. The thing is though; who do we replace him with???

  12. What is the point of having two keepers challenging for the shirt and the one making all the cock-ups keeps his place. Bilic is clueless, can’t man manage and has to go

  13. Bilics explanation and apparent decision to continue with Randolph is rather strange . But then again his decisions have been strange for ages . Anyway , apart from that goalkeepers have a hard time of it when Thier defense is poor . They need to take things into Thier own hands due to the lack of confidence the defenders breed . It’s a tough one because I think Adrian is the better keeper and Bilic is just being stubborn . I think Adrian organizes his defense better and is a better stopper but , the back line needs to take more responsibility and not leave the keeper so consistently exposed .
That’s Bilics job to sort out . Unfortunately he’s proving to be not very good at it .
We should start the new season ( next season ) with a new Manager . Just who that should be is very much up for debate but , nonetheless a change is needed .
