Slaven Bilic was left to curse one moment of Romelu Lukaku magic after the Everton striker continued his remarkable scoring record against West Ham.
And boss Bilic said: “My centre-halves dealt with Lukaku well – apart from for the goal.
“But it was a good game and I am really happy with the way we played, especially after losing to Watford last week, and because it was in front of our home fans against good team.
“On one hand I’m never happy when we don’t win, but we can’t be unhappy with the way we played.
“Everton deserved something from the game, although I think we were a bit closer to winning.”
Bilic faces an anxious wait to learn the extent of ankle injuries to Dimitri Payet and Enner Valencia saying: “We will have to wait on the scans. I am not a doctor but I am optimistic they will both be ready for the Tottenham game.
“We have to be happy with our start to the season. We need to use this international break to come back even hungrier.”
Didn’t the wheels fall off last season around the time AC came back?? Hopefully Sakho will be back soon & Payet only picked up a slight knock.
I like to see that our previous leader is enjoying success in his new position 😀
Typical cynical northern football tactics from the dark ages , if you can’t beat them then kick them off the park . Surely it’s time to change this ridiculous rule in football where a player can wipe out an opponent with a scything challenge providing he gets a toe nail to the ball first !
Plenty of balls in the box for Carroll to get on the end of and he made the wrong decision every time or he was slow reacting,
If we play him with another then we loose one of our wingers or Payet,
Carroll showed he did not adapt again Kevin and does not make the runs we need I hope Slav does not stick by him the way Hippo did Nolan and uses him as a impact sub,
The game was entertaining for the fans again just not the end result.
Another game where Carroll was mainly ineffective . But it is not only him ., by that I mean the supply line to Carroll is not what you would call a conveyer belt . I would love to see Carroll getting on the end of something but it’s not happening . Do we persist with the lone striker formation or should we maybe switch to 442 . If the 4231 didn’t work against Watford or Everton it most certainly won’t work against Spurs . Hope we are not on the way to our customary Christmas Syndrome .
I’ll go one futher. I think McCarthy targeted Payet. How did McCarthy stay on the field? Green ref, that’s how. Look at the tackle. How is that not reckless? Colliins got sent off for less than that. I don’t whinge much but McCarthy came from behind, wrapped the left leg around then when the ball was gone wrapped the right leg around in a scissors action. That’s a reckless tackle & we are fortunate Payet does not have a broken leg. We play with flair now & just like Liam Brady of once upon a time, they are balance players & a big knock throws you off. The refs need to come down hard on this type of tackling. We lost a lot of momentum when Payet went off & the result may have been different. McCarthy stayed on, not happy Jan!
I know slav played for everton as well as us but he’s having a laugh if he thinks they deserved anything from that game. Dirty tackling bunch of ********.
Hi hopefully the injuries wont be to bad Everton kicked us all match apart from their no 10 they don’t have much didn’t want to say his name lol coyi
