Smash and grab raid from Ginge and Mo

Irons 2 Norwich City 0

Collins By Hugh Southon

James Collins scored his first goal in two years and super-sub Mo Diame sealed the points with a last gasp effort as the Hammers marched on with their winning run!

Despite spending a lot of the game on the back foot, the Irons again showed fantastic resilience at the back where goalkeeper Adrian was in sensational form.

The visitors had been denied by the Spanish stopper in a first half which saw the Irons defending for their lives at times before staging theor late smash and grab raid.

New Upton park crowd hero Adrian saved from  Gary Hooper, Robert Snodgrass and Alex Tettey in the first 45 mins.

But after goals from Collins and Diame the boys in Claret and blue ended the evening in 10th place after taking 10 points from their last four games.

City took control for a long period in the second half but they were made to pay for their missed chances in the 83rd minute when ‘Ginge’ headed past Ruddy from Diame’s cross.

And the big midfielder playing out wide then picked up the ball deep in his own half to start a long solo run which saw him wrong foot the Canaries goalkeeper deep into injury time and secure the points.
