Snag looms on Albion ace interest

|

Saido BerahinoWest Ham are “keeping their powder dry” after Watford were reported to have moved in on West Brom striker Saido Berahino.

The Hornets are believed to have lodged a bid with the front mn who has been regularly linked with Spurs over the last 12 months.

However, although the Hammers are keeping a careful eye on him they fear he won’t be allowed to leave until Christmas with Albion’s owner Jeremy Peace apparently ready to sell the club should he get the right offer.

A Hammers insider told ClaretandHugh: “Our understanding is that’s the case. The Albion chairman may want Berahino in place until Christmas as the club then becomes more attractive to a potential buyer.

“Yes we are interested in the boy as we are several other strikers and it’s one that we would obviously be monitoring.”

Berahino managed just seven goals in 35 appearances last season when but hit  20 in the previous campaign when his Enland under 21 international career was taking off.

He has had well publicised problems at the club with reports of late arrivals at training and a court appearance before North Cheshire magistrates on a drink-driving charge.

He’s gone public to put his reputation a different light insisting he’s not the bad boy he’s painted by the media and clearly a new start is beckoning a striker with plenty of goals in him.

I have to laugh, obviously this insider has not been speaking to the Chairmen or if he has, he is going against their ideas. The Chairmen have constantly said and I quote no one will be allowed to leave unless we replace them with someone better. Now can anyone tell me that this lad is better than Sakho. If we sign him and let Sakho or even Valencia go we are going backwards in my opinion. I have seen loads of this lad, yes on his day he is very good but unfortunately those days are few and far between, again imo he is also not a team player.

    • Perhaps you missed the part that “this insider” said he is one of several and that they are watching and that they “are keeping their powder dry”

If his good days a few & far between I put him on the same level as Valencia then lol
Valencia is so powder puff he makes Downing look like a hard nut.

Valencia is dead and buried at West Ham, he may have better luck in Spain on France but in UK football he is a busted flush. Sakho? Well he is living off of a great first 6 months. Though hard working he has shown little ability to score at anything like that rate and injuries are becoming Dyer-esk in nature which is the one excuse for his poor goal return but hardly helps the club. Add to that a very doubtful attitude off the pitch and he may well be unassailable come Christmas let alone at the decent price we may just get for him by naive managers hoping to turn things around. Hey a new challenge might even work for a while but again I can’t see it at West Ham where he expects to be starting as and when he feels like it, fit or otherwise.
If Berahino isn’t better than those 2 (probably the 2 together) then wow he must have deteriorated this past year.

I think he can be a great Forward along side another target man,he is nowhere near the finished item but in a few years time away from his present club he will be very good,
I would not wait for others and push now,
The player wants out and with his agent would work with us to come here,
Great player alongside AC or Sak or another like Bony or Wilson,
Feeding off Payet and Lanzini he would put in 15 plus a season,
What’s with this powderpuff stuff again I remember how Lanzini was going to be killed off last season,

  • RickHammer says:

I think Stan is right he is lightweight & powder puff.Lanzini has body strength which I think no one could say Enner has.He only needs to feel the breeze up his shorts & he is on his ass.My opinion anyway.

Short memories my friends lol lol. I have a friend who is a season ticket holder at West Brom, he is a good judge and he said to me that he hopes West Brom get rid of him. That’s enough for me and just reinforces my own opinions. I don’t know if you can remember how good Enner and Sakho were together but they were. I would love to see them in a front two with Payet in behind. What a strike force.

Well if Valencia is such hot property I have seen very little interest in him from other teams. We are hardly having the door knocked down for his signature are we 🙂
