Hammer Robert Snodgrass has shown once again why he is a man of the people when it comes to West Ham fans.
The Scotsman was the first player to go right up to the away fans at the final whistle at the Amex Stadium on Saturday taking Fabianski, Diop and Rice with him to applaud the Claret and Blue away army.
After the game, he openly mingled with West Ham fans outside the stadium and allowed supporters to take selfies with him.
One supporter on social media messaged Snodgrass saying ‘don’t think it goes unnoticed’ referring to his effort to thank fans for travelling away supporters while another called for him to captain West Ham when Mark Noble wasn’t playing.
Snodgrass has taken West Ham fans and the club into his heart and that goes a long way for supporters who love a player with passion who gives 100% commitment to the club on and off the pitch.
“another called for him to captain West Ham when Mark Noble wasn’t playing.”
I couldn’t agree more as he is definitely one player who always gives 110% when he’s on the pitch & it seems 110% when he’s off the pitch too which makes him a real club man & a Hammer to the core!!
Strange that, nowadays, a player who “earns” his wages and is fan-centric needs to be singled out for praise.
That’s some indictment on the others……….
Also, the impossible concept of giving any more than 100% also suggests that others either do not, or are incapable of, giving what they are paid for.
My money’s on………….
I said the same thing on Saturday. Snodgrass is a big character who talks and puts 100% effort in. He’s a more obvious choice to be captain in my view and I think given how his West Ham career started and how he’s embraced the club, I think it would have meant a lot to him.
Have you noticed that it’s a fair few Scots who have the same attitude and fan respect at other clubs. Robertson at Liverpool and McGinn at Villa. Watch out for Fleck too at Sheffield Utd and Tierney at Arsenal. These guys have worked their way up from the minor leagues and haven’t forgotten that hard work overcomes skill…………when skill doesn’t work hard.
Shame we didn’t get him a few years earlier. But good article about a good man. Don’t worry about the players who don’t do it though lads- just celebrate the fact that some do. Only my opinion but I believe most players who have got to this level have had to work hard to get there & try their best. Most of them want to repay supporters who are fair to them & they do care, but some just find it more difficult to show it.
