Socios plan may need carrier pigeons

The Socios initiative which will allow fans to vote on a variety of inoffensive issues has been described as controversial, money grabbing and plain dull.

On the flip side there are those who will love the opportunity of paying a quid for a token which gives them the right to  have there two ‘pennorth on these issues.

Sean explained the type of scenarios for whom some would be spending a quid on a token giving them the opportunity to have a say on really minor questions.

These could includes which match Socios should sponsor,  the man of the match for that game, which player should appear on the football programme for that match and moment of the month.

However, ClaretandHugh Facebook group member Toby Cole has pointed out one rather important flaw in the scheme which we can only hope willl be solved this season.

He writes at https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/ “Sean’s article clears up the cost and season ticket holders etc get the token for free.

The real issue here is how are we meant to vote via the app when there is no internet connection in the stadium. Will they provide us with carrier pigeons to get around this issue?

  1. Gotta catch ’em all. Bunch of loons running around the stadium, phones in hand, converging on floaty coins – prolly dressed in claret and blue Sonic costumes. Maybe call part of the stadium the “Hedgehog Run”.

    Coin On You Hedgehogs!

  2. I have watched West ham sine the seventies spent hundreds of pounds on club items plus thousands on programmes plus of course transport to many away games why why why would I want to pay to make a vote for a play it seems to me it is another way of cashing in on fans! And of course search to you its just a pound I suspect in 10 years time it will be 10 quid nothing stays the same ridiculous idea something as a fans magazine you should not be agreeing but stopping another company making money out hard working fand

  3. Do not understand your comment, shot or what

    • Frank R. If you are referring to my comment…it’s referencing the Socios scheme to place “virtual” tokens around the stadium. You’d use an augmented reality app on your smartphone to “hunt” tokens around the stadium – very much like pokemon go. The Sonic reference is to Sonic the Hedgehog, an old video game where a hedgehog runs around collecting gold rings.

Hope this clears things up. And, yes, I’m also shot…
