West Ham’s interest in Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney has demonstrated Tim Steidten’s ambitions show no signs of relenting. Just when we start to think that the Hammers transfer activity is about to slow down, another target emerges and this time it’s the aptly names Hackney.

The 22-year-old’s impressive performances in the Championship have attracted attention from multiple Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves.

According to TBR Football , West Ham scouts have already made two trips to watch Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney this season. It should be noted that it would be impossible for the Hammers to sign both Hackney and Carlos Soler and therefore it’s likely the Boro man would be a back-up should we fail to land the PSG star.

Hackney’s versatility, ability to contribute to both defensive and offensive phases of play, and his potential for further development make him an attractive target for West Ham.

Securing Hackney’s signature will not be easy, as Middlesbrough are likely to be reluctant to sell the player. The competition from other Premier League clubs will also make the transfer more challenging.

West Ham will need to offer a competitive package to convince Hackney to make the move to the London Stadium. If the club can successfully secure his signature, it would be yet another significant boost to their midfield options and their ambitions for the upcoming season.

However, the Hammers are well stocked in midfield with Edson Alvarez returning and James Ward Prowse seemingly forced to wait his turn on the bench.
