Song facing long lay-off

|

songReports that Alex Song has failed his ‘medical’ is wide of the mark given that he faces two!

The Hammers are still awaiting the outcome of the first – which is looking at his general well being. The second will be held when he has recovered from the ankle injury which needed surgery in the summer.

But a top source revealed to ClaretandHugh that the ankle problem will ensure that he “is unable to play until November the earliest.”

And that assessment by the club’s medical team assumes that the midfielder makes a normal recovery from the operation which involved removing a piece of floating bone from his ankle.

David Sullivan has already commented: He’s injured at the moment, which is something you’ve got to weigh up. But we’ve got until September 1st to make a decision.”

It’s for that reason the Hammers may perform the U-turn on Joey Barton, as reported earlier on this site today, whom they believe they can get on a pay as you play basis.

ClaretandHugh was told by a top Hammers source: “Even if we decide to sign Alex the facts are that he won’t be fit to play again until November the very earliest so there’s some hard thinking to be done.”

Some of you moaners out there and so called supporters seem to expect west ham to be absolutely brilliant? Iv,e got news for you, never will be, never have!! This is from a 1963 supporter that is quite content with watching an entertaining match, sometimes **** poor? And sometimes unbelievably good, if not, brilliant, but saying that billic has put back into west ham that alldyce took out! And that is good football, if they lose playing good stuff, hard cheese
Leicester and Bournemouth, both played well, and good goals scored including our!s

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Well said Tony, I am hopeful that one day we might be brilliant consistently, as you said though we are now at least trying to play football and are scoring some good goals, we just need to defend better which isn’t so difficult to improve and gradually as the players adapt we will perform better.

What happened to was a load of wetpants people deserted and came on here because it was light hearted everyone could say what they liked and have fun,
Those people have forgot why they left and now are acting like the nobheads on wet pants and bringing us into the same ****e,
They need to lighten up or try and become part of the elite on wetpants,

  • GW says:

Anyone else remember the days when you’d come on the forum take the ****, talk about Matte’s figa, not have statistical guru’s and wannabee managers preaching at you and ripping the bits out of the new WHTID cake book… We all might be ****ed off at the mo but C+H was always about a laugh a joke a disagreement without the stats hysterics…

    • Radai Lama says:

Haha, maybe we can get someone from wetpants to bake you a walnut cake to ease your tensions GW.I heared they have baking classes round Rolfes every thursday night while they watch a recording of The Great British Bake Off.Then they mark eachothers cakes out of ten based on a comprehensive list of the qualities needed for the perfect Sponge Cake 😀

I’m not wrong by the way. My squad includes the players recently sent out on loan. They are still a part of our squad.

  • slaven a laugh says:

Lack of a wide man could be solved by Adnan Januzaj I suppose. At least he scores goals which is something Jarvis doesn’t do. What do you think stats man? I suppose you will produce a goals scored by Jarvis chart. Ha ha

  • slaven a laugh says:

Stats man. Why don’t you go an ply your trade on wetpants.com

    • Dainon says:

lol – Im very sorry for pointing out we have a smaller squad than you were making out.

Just admit your wrong its much more dignified than the petty name calling that you have descended to

      😀

  • Dainon says:

Go no the official site, select “Teams” then select “First Team” .. its 25 players

Loads of those you have listed appear in the “Dev Squad” section and others are out on loan so are in other teams squads

Im not a stats man by any means, just pointing out that we have one of the smallest squads in the Prem & not one of the largest like many seam to believe. The official websites of West ham & the Premier league agree its 25 players

The very LAST thing our wobbling dressing room needs right now, is Barton.

7 are youth team players so don’t come under the official quota but in total yes its 32, Burke and Poyet have been loaned out and Amalfitano is training with the kids I think, has Elliot Lee also been loaned out ? If so we are looking at 28/29 with Enner Valencia / JOB / Carroll / Zarate / Hendrie presently injured.

  • slaven a laugh says:

Ha ha Mr know it all stats man. On Thursday the 30th of July the official website published new squad numbers for the first team squad for the 2015/2016 season. There were 32 names in it.

  • slaven a laugh says:

Maybe I’m not good at counting but I make it 32 players in our official squad on the official site.

  • Dainon says:

Official squad sizes this morning… guess itll change a bit this week. but ours is one of the smallest

  • CraigG says:

Maiga is still playing because we have no other ****ing forwards,Jarvis because we have no ****ing widemen.Nolan because we had no Zarate. We might have a big squad but we somehow still manage to be light in some areas, lol

    • slaven a laugh says:

No other forwards? We have sakho and if you need to substitute him for the last 10 how about giving Samuelson or lee a go?

      • Dainon says:

Lee’s out on loan but I agree with Samuelson, id play him

        • slaven a laugh says:

Why is lee out on loan when we have a striker shortage that’s my point. What if sakho and Amiga both got injured?

          • Dainon says:

I would never have loaned out Lee. It was a big mistake but I guess they didnt expect 2 more forward to join Carroll on the crocked list

          • CraigG says:

Lee isnt out on loan you nutters. You have spent all this time arguing but cant even get simple facts right, lol 😀

  • slaven a laugh says:

allardyce didn’t play the Jarvis and maigas of the world. Now suddenly they are back in the team. I’m sure we would have got rid of them had it not been for a new manager coming in and knowing we had a long season in Europe ahead of us … We now have a bigger squad than ever because of a European competition we are no longer in yet are still putting the likes of Nolan Jarvis and Maiga in the team? I would rather we had a smaller squad with more quality in it. We still have time left in the transfer window so let’s sell the chaff and bring in some wheat.

    • Dainon says:

we dont have a big squad, its more or less the same size as last season. for every player that come in one has gone.. released, loaned out or contract expired. The players we have brought in are probably all an upgrade though in most peoples eyes

      Payet >Downing
      Randolph>Jussi
      Hendry>Demel
      Ogbonna>Burke (season loan)
      Obiang>Payet (season loan)
      Lanzini>Lee (both season loans)

add both Oxford & Samuelson as emerging talent which can boost the first team squad.

Jenkinson and hopefully Song will be taking their own spots again from last season.

Oh and Slaven a Laugh… Bilic has to play Maiga & Jarvis right now as he has no other options, The fact that the previous manager didnt pick them speaks volumes as he was the one that SIGNED them both and Nolan – Things have defo improved since Sullivan took over the buying and selling of players last summer

      • slaven a laugh says:

Ridiculous to say new signings are replacements for our academy team players that have gone out on loan. How can lanzini be a replacement for lee? Derek was a right back hendrie is a left back payer was not brought in as a replacement for Downing

        • Dainon says:

I wasnt talking straight swops .. just pointing out numbers & those players out on loan are not in our squad this season

          • slaven a laugh says:

weve got a big squad. So big we’re now sending some of them out on loan because we are no longer in Europe. That was my point.

  • bubs says:

These players should have been put on a for sale list told there was no place for them the week after the season finished to be fair to them and give Slav a target to bring players in or introduce youngsters,
I will support Slav for the life of his contract because he is honest does not suffer fools and will give 100% for this club,

  • Roman says:

Exactly bubs.Song still has a better playing to injured ratio than A.C.Yes you would have to question Poyet going out on loan.If Barton can do the business well sign him.Give the manager a fair go.We still have Allardyce’s legacy to discard including his love child Nolan.

  • bubs says:

We knew he was not going to be available until November so what’s the problem ?
Why send Poyet on loan until December,
We do not need Barton,we never signed players to protect Dicksie or other defenders,
If Jenks or Cressie need ed protecting we should have signed proper defenders,
We need to take the game to the other team
Attack is the best form of defence,
We need back up to Payet and Sakho not defenders, we can not sit back that’s why we gave away so many games in the last 20 minutes last year,

  • Billythehammer says:

Id sign him just because of that shirt. Do you think the first thing he puts on in the morning are those dark glasses? Would explain his dress sense.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Sign Barton on a season long deal he doesn’t play in the same position or in the same way as Song so you can sign both of them. Barton will protect Jenkinson a lot more than any of the current players are doing if we play him wide right.

  • canchaz says:

Although I shudder at the name Barton, another sites suggestion we might be reconsidering makes some sense. Certainly our defence needs some steel at the moment.

  • Richie says:

Why sign a player who isn’t going to be fit until November when we are already thin on the ground? If you want Song surely you have to say we need Barton in the same sentence!

  • johnham1 says:

Sign him quickly, and Moses and another pacey frontman this week and we will be ok. And I then believe we should get behind Bilic and see what he can achieve.
