Song’s successful operation!

|

alex-song-west-ham (1)Alex Song has received surgery on his ankle injury.

The midfielder recently returned to Barcelona from the UK recently on crutches and the Irons have confirmed to ClaretandHugh exclusively this morning that he has undergone a successful operation.

The midfielder’s progress will now be monitored after he went under the knife to remove a piece of bone which caused the injury.

The 27 year old received regular maintenance on the problem from club medics last season and is expected to take up to three months to recover from surgery.

Meanwhile, ClaretandHugh understands that striker Diafra Sakho has been involved in a fitness regime aimed at strengthening his back muscles after last season’s problems.

Sign him now it won’t be taking a chance as recovery from this op will not be a problem he will be ready just after Carroll and will be like a fresh signing, with Poyet,Kouyate and Obiang we have enough cover for defensive midfield until he has recovered,
No brainer get it done why he is a liability to Barca

Agree Sleeps,it is a routine op & this floating bone would certainly explain his drop in form,it must have been there during the second half of the season.A pre-xmas Song was immense for us imo.

If that floating bone was the only problem, then we could sign him soon. It should heal up without complications.

If Song’s drop in form last season was due to this injury (and the club’s ‘medical maintenance’ suggests it probably was), then re-signing him on a permanent deal is a no-brainer.

He was immense for us up to Christmas, and in retrospect the falling out with his national coach for the African tournament in January would now make sense, especially in light of how poor Sakho’s national medical treatment turned out.
