Soucek flattered by Mourinho comment

|

Jose Mourino’s comment that David Moyes appears to have found his new Marauane Fellaini in Tomas Soucek has gone down well with our midfielder.

The Spurs boss makes something of a habit of giving special public attention to our players after games as he did at Manchester United when singling out Issa Diop for special praise and then Michail Antonio, after he terrorised Spurs a couple of games back.

It’s all very nice for the players of course but immediately brings them to public attention and in Diop’s case led to ongoing suggestions that United would be interested in signing the central defender.

Fellaini played for Moyes at Everton and Manchester United after the Hammers boss initially signed him from Standard Liege when at Goodison Park.

He is now at Chinese club Shandong Luneng Taishan.

Fellaini was  of course a highly competitive and powerful midfielder and Soucek, not unnaturally, has taken the comparison as a big compliment.

He said:  “I take these words very positively. I know what a player he was and still is. I think he took his name in my similar ability especially when I fight in the air.”

“I don’t have to show how big my hands are but when my body is strong inside and I am ready to fight on the pitch or in the head it is not as important as how I look.”

I used to hate it when fellaini played against us. Bloke was an absolute beast in his peak. If I’m not wrong he was also a moyes signing together with Mata that were the best players in the team that Mourinho took over.

Hi Vinny – are you the same Vinny that used to write match reports on Westhamonline? I really used to enjoy those reports – in fact one of BFS big sins was making that Vinny lose his passion for writing the reports

Apologies to all if that was a different Vinny
