Soucek plays a big role in his own Hammers future

Tomas Soucek could hardly have done more to ensure a permanent future during the game against Chelsea.

The Slavia Prague on loan midfielder saw a goal ridiculously ruled out by VAR before finally grabbing his first strike for the club after the visitors had taken the lead.

Soucek will remain at the club permanently should the Hammers stay up and on the strength of what we saw last night his involvement in the final games is going to be critical.

Beyond his goal the 25 year old was always busy beside Declan Rice and always on top of the job against a very good Chelsea midfield.

Now, after an outstanding game, he is ready to help the Hammers grab more points at Newcastle this weekend as the survival battle continues.

After a night of agony and ecstasy at the london Stadium he’s looking for another big result at st James’ Park and is determined to play as big a part as possible,

Commenting at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/july/02-july/tomas-soucek-we-trained-very-hard-beat-very-good-chelsea-team he said:

“I am very happy to win this game. I was in the changing room and everyone is very happy. We have had to wait a long time for a win and, during the season suspension, it was a tough, long time.

“I think we won against a very good team and we are very happy. We’ve trained very hard. We now need to get more points in our coming games.”

The 25-year-old saw a close-range effort disallowed following a lengthy VAR review, which determined that Michail Antonio – laying on the pitch near Soucek – was marginally offside.

He continued: “I was a bit angry because, in the last game, I scored an own-goal after a handball and then, against Chelsea, I scored and I think Michail didn’t touch the ball. He told me he didn’t touch it too.

“But then luck was on our side and I was able to score my first goal for West Ham ten minutes later!”

He added: “I am excited for the next game. We need points and now we have two recovery days and we will go to Newcastle, which we look forward to. For us, it is a better situation now.”

  1. He is essential for the future . Rice will almost certainly move on to fulfill his immense talent and Capt Noble must be replaced .We have no other midfield players that will take us forward . Make him skipper and build a team round him .

  2. Its Slavia Prague not Sparta Prague. Sparta Is their biggest rival

  3. Hammers, Hammers, buy the lad. Whilst you are there, see if there are anymore as good as him back at his home club.

  4. He Is from SLAVIA Prague, not from Sparta Prague 😒
