Soucek suffers again and is surely set for a rest

Tomas Soucek had another shocking night on the pitch as the Czech Republic crashed to a 2-1 defeat in Switzerland during his 54th cap for his country.

The result ensured that the country was relegated to group B of the Nations League and the Hammers defensive midfielder will almost certainly feel that he contributed to the defeat.

In what was a poor performance. the 27-year-old missed a penalty although in fairness to the Swiss keeper it was a particularly good save.

Many are calling for David Moyes to replace Soucek for the game against Wolves at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.

And after his awful form so far this season at both club and international level there has to now be a serious chance that Flynn Downes could be drafted in alongside Declan Rice for a game which is taking on massive importance.

Soucek has argued that he is unworried nu his form given that football is a game where it comes and goes but right now the right decision looks to be that he makes way as a first team regular.

  1. I dont think a rest will solve the problem, and a pay rise will be a waste of money. It has to be somethink else as the whole squad look inept at the moment.Unlimited cash can buy success but it needs the right people to implement it.We have limited cash and none of the other.

  2. Soucek had a brilliant start to us putting in great performances but his performances have deteriorated to such a degree he should have dropped last season. I dont blame him for thus but I do blame the manager for continually picking a player who is completely out of form. He should not start at the weekend, if he does we will lose the game. Btw Bowen should also be dropped for the same reasons. Who to replace Soucek in CM is the question. I personally did love to see a midfield 3 of Ricez, Fornals and Paqueta but for us to see that Moyes will have to be sacked. He is more likely to stick with his negative approach and play Downes. Downes did very well in his last game but he is too like Rice imo. If Moyes continues with his negative approach he will be sacked and it will be a shame after all he has acheved. Lets hope he changes the approach this weekend..
