Soucek: “We are capable of getting a good result”

|

Tomas Soucek was very impressive indeed during his first game of the season and can have a great effect on the rest of the campaign.

His midfield defensive abilities were outstanding as was his ability to drift into the penalty area where he might – with luck – have had a couple of goals.

And after impressing on the pitch he is talking the sort of talk we all want to hear in these dark days and he certanly appears to have no fear of Manchester City.

The Czech midfielder – in his first interview with the official site – is offering an optimistic assessment of the task ahead this afternoon.

Of course it may not come to pass but it’s exactly what we need to be hearing as we set off on what many consider is a near mission Impossible.

With Jarrod Bowen likely to be making his debut and a strong squad travelling to the Etihad hope springs eternal.

Speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/february/09-february/tomas-soucek-we-are-capable-getting-good-result-manchester he said: We all know that there are two very hard fixtures ahead of us. We are talking about tactics and I think we could face any team [and do well].

“I was in a similar situation with Slavia Prague [in the Champions League]. I believe that we could be equal to any team and getting points is always a realistic possibility.

“To play away against Manchester City won’t be easy. But we are good players and I believe that we can get our act together and we are capable of getting a good result.”

Manchester City will be kick-off eager to bounce back after losing 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur last time out and Soucek said: “I watched the match.  The truth is Man City were very unlucky against Tottenham, but we can take advantage if one [opportunity] arises. I know their defeat could be beneficial for us but it’s up to us what happens on the pitch.

“Man City had many chances to score but Tottenham took advantage of the moments when they made counter-attacks. We could do something similar. It will be important not to miss any possible chances. We shall rely on our defenders and compactness of our team. This could lead to our success.”
